I'm not sure if this is something new or not but the last few days that I have been playing pirates, people having been saying really awful names everytime I sink their ship(not every game but more often recently). I don't repond to them, simply report them after the game is over. Honestly though I am tired of it! I am tired of the rude people and awful comments in the game, I really, really wish that VMK would take out the chat feature during the game - there is no need for it and it just aggrivates everyone! Why are people so nasty?! It's a GAME! It's Disney!!! Come on people!

Actually, I firmly believe that the chat feature remain in the game. Us DIS-ers need it desperately during Friendly.

Take out all the chat except for gg and gl. And you should know what you are doing before you go into a friendly game, all chat does is cause lag and make it hard to find items you need. And some people know this so they chat constantly on purpose when you are at the top of the screen where the chat shows up, so you cannot find the items easily and their teammate is shooting at you.

And you can remove it in ghost also.

Actually Chat does not cause lag. and chat helps in the game especially when playing with less expierenced players.

If another players chat in the game bothers you or is against VMK guidelines take a screen shot so you can remember the players id and if need be send the screen shot to VMK and report the players once the game has ended.

Obviously we aren't playing with the same people: we often have to stop and talk about who wins what/when, and "YES, YOU CAN SCORE!"

I guess I can't disagree more with you people. I love talking in Pirates. Making little jests, here and there. That's the reason why I love it over HM: in HM, you have absolutely no time to talk.

In Pirates, you use strategy: you go there, I'll stay here and guard. Do you honestly expect everyone playing CTF to confirm their strategy beforehand?

So, I guess we'll agree to disagree, because you can never convince me that the chat in Pirates is bad.

Thats funny, I have had the hosts tell us to quit chatting back when they were having problems with lag in host game rooms, they said it caused them lag.

And it helps with less experienced players? So you are one of the people who does exactly what I stated? lol

As a side note we talk quite a bit in HM when playing with friends and again sometimes with inexperienced players. sometimes strategy sometimes instructions other times chit chat. It's really no different then pirates. I agree it should stay but people do abuse it in both games and use it to talk bad about their team mates and to aggitate their apponants (sp?) Just because it is abused doesn't mean it should go away, as Mal said report it if necessary...I often just chose to not play those teams.

You can report people for being sunk and than chatting like crazy to annoy you even though they do not say anything against vmk values? I had one that got sank and than she proceeded to sing during the game everytime I was at the top of the screen, but when her team mate was up there she shut up. This is very annoying in my opinion.

Pirates has to be the worst for rude ppl. Especially double credits day. Some of the things said by players makes my hair :scared1: . But the game in itself is :scared1: because nothing is consistant.
Horrible lag...........distracting chatter......constantly getting stuck on trees and rocks. Why do we need trees and rocks in the first place, I have yet to figure a way to exit the boat and step foot on that land.
I vote no chat in pirates to

I have nothing to say to this. I personally just thing you're taking this whole thing too seriously: if you have a problem with the chatty teammate, DON'T SAIL TO THAT SIDE OF THE SCREEN.

Easily remedied: I don't believe it is anything to REPORT over.

As I've said before, people are a little too Report-happy. When it gets to something like a scammer, the moderators don't take it seriously.

If someone is causing ACTUAL HARM, then you report them. Don't report them for "hurting your feelings." Just go on your way and ignore them.

Awww, no chat in pirates?? That's the only reason why I play this game versus ghost or fireworks (so lonely in that game!!)

I LOVE chatting with fellow friends/teammates while playing pirates. pirate: But I do understand fully about the rude and sometimes downright nasty comments from sore losers. Makes me wish I could reach through my computer screen at times.... :rolleyes1 But getting rid of the "fun chat" is not the answer to the nastiness. People have to be more viligant in reporting in the HOPES that VMK will straighten up and start banning these rude kids (and sometimes adults)

I think the chat in Pirates should stay because it helps to be able to talk to the other players. But the people who abuse it make the game so much less fun. I prefer to play Fireworks and HM for that reason.

No, and I really did not find that funny. I do not use chat in pirates to distract or cover up anything...don't need to.

There are plenty of things said in pirates that need reporting...does that make me want VMK to punish all the players who do not break the rules?

No, chat should stay in the game. If a player says anything against VMK values then they should be reported.

Then it is up to VMK to take action, only by VMK taking the appropriate action will the game be free of rude players, scammers and cheaters.

Let me also add to this that I do not feel that reporting players for silly things like winning the game or not trading with you when they do not want to trade etc should go unpunished either.

All false reporting does is make the VMK moderators job more difficult and wastes time when they could be reviewing the real trouble makers and scammers.

I think you missed my point. No one is going to call me a terrible name without reason just for sinking their ship in a disney game for kids and not get reported! And speaking of kids, do you really think they should be called that while trying to play a game for fun and doing their best to win?! This is dumb ( or dumbo - another of my favorite name calling rants - although at least cute in a way)

And report happy? It's not about "hurt feelings". The rules of the game clearly state what behavior is acceptable and what is not - why can't people just follow the rules, respect others and enjoy this great game?! Someone always has to ruin it for someone else - always.

If taking chat away in game isn't up to everyones liking, why not just auto bans for people who say things like " u as" and "boy friend" or "taken" or "go out" and so? Then there is no reporting, it's just auto, dealt with and done - no one annoyed anymore and everyone goes on enjoying themselves as it should be...

Taking chat away is not the answer. Just because some people say things they should not during a pirate game does not mean you mute the world.

I report people who dance bad words during pirates. I take a very quick screen shot during the game so I have their title and then I fill out the report form once we return to dock. I also think it is important to make a point in the report form HOW the word was used and that the individual should not be able to use a word in such a way in a game with so many kids.

As for auto bans when certain words are spoken, sadly that is not a work-able solution. Can you see it now? "I wish I had taken less time to finish that quest." BOOM auto-ban! egad!

I DO think it is sad that some players do not know how to sink with grace and laugh at themselves, but silencing everyone on their behalf is not the answer.

And as for the game itself, some of my best vmk times and most wonderful laughs have been shared on those pirate seas. Arrrrrr!

hello i would agree with the rudeness of ppl i got called a coward today during capture the flag because i was trying to get my flag back instead of shoot cannons back and forth to get less points lol so the teammate that was with the person who said that sat there and didnt do anything and told their teammate they were a bad sport and that we deserved to win its great to still see good ppl in the game 95% of the time tho i do appreciate ppl helping everyone else out even if its the opposite team its called respect and everyone is right its a game just have fun! :)

ARRR, AGREED!

Row Boat? If we took away chat, then we wouldn't have the opportunity of laughing at this dinky little ship. No 'gg' or 'gl'? Everyone on the DIS that have played with me know how very much I love to talk during the game. It's a real blast.

I know that we should be reporting folks for dictionary dancing, but I honestly don't see a point. The good people usually end up punished while the bad people go free.

I figure, why bother? I won't be interacting with them ever again, so I just ignore them and go on my jolly way. Call it a Type B attitude of mine. Sure it sounds a little selfish, but I'm a Pirate. pirate:

I agree auto ban would never work as there are situations almost any of these examples could be taken out of context. a boy friend does not have to be a significant other. I have lots of boy friends on vmk and in real life and that doesn't mean that there is anything going on between me and them. Dreams used a good example as far as taken. A person can say something about go out side and get banned too.

As far as the to chat or not to chat debate, I love to be able to chat in friendly games and others. If it is my turn being a duck I will play it up saying ouch after being sunk or other comments (nice of course). Me and my friends also make fun of those who say stuff like it not being fair that they were sunk by saying it to each other. However I do agree in the times I play regular games people get so rude I get annoyed, which is why I rarely do regular games. Is there a correct choice between getting rid of chat or not? No I don't think so. My solution for this would be if they added the ignore feature in the games. That way if you have a problem with what they are saying or how much they are saying then just click ignore as you would elsewhere.
