Pirate Cruise - Is 9 too old to enjoy it?

We will be there in January with four kids - ages 4, 5, 6 and 9. I would like to book the pirates cruise for them on the Saturday we are leaving (when we will have no park tickets and no flight out until 8 pm). Is this going to be too "young" for my 9 year old. If it is, I will give him the option of swimming (if warm enough) or hanging out at the arcade. I know the cruise is for kids 4-10 - but I seem to recall reading somewhere that it is really geared towards younger kids.

Anyone have a 9 year old who has done this? Words of advice? Thanks.

Lauren

I let my daughter go with her younger siblings last year (when she was 8) and although she tolerated it, I really don't think she truly "enjoyed" it.

With that said, I think it depends on the child, but I bet mine would have liked to have done something else. By the way, at least on that cruise, she was the oldest child.

Hope this helps! :flower:

My DS went at 7 and loved it. He wanted to go again this year at 9 and I made the reservation. I think it really does depend on the kid. My DS went to the Wonderland Tea Party last year with his little brother and really had a good time.

An important thing to remember, the cruise involves solving puzzles and clues, so they have the upper age limit to avoid the older children from solving all of the mysteries. If an older child is going along with a younger sibling, I would "encourage" them to play along and allow the younger kids to have an opportunity to come up with some answers. Like everybody agrees, it is all up to the individual child.

Oh, BTW, there will be a pirate cruise at the Caribbean Beach Resort...... soon.

Okay, How soon are we talking about here? I'm going in the 2nd week of December and think my then to be 5 y/o DS would love this.

If I knew that I would have posted it....... :rotfl2:

OK, if you are staying at The Caribbean Beach Resort, ask at the marina. DO NOT call WDW-PLAY or CRO they will not know anything about it.
Expect a trial period maybe as soon as middle of November.

Thanks for all of the input. My sister had a good idea -- send the 9 year old with a disposable camera. That way he is there as the "big kid" and is supposed to be documenting the event since it is "no grown ups allowed." We are going to then have a "secrets of the pirate cruise revealed" section in the scrap book. I will also gently remind him to let the littlier kids figure out the clues.

Or call the marina at YC/BC.. The guy that developed the tour is there... Can't remember his name, but they were all very friendly.
