I'm considering making reservations for my children to go on the pirate cruise on January 27th. I have two concerns: #1, the weather. I know no one can predict now what it will definitely be like, but if someone has experience, please share your January weather details. LOL! And, my #2 concern...my kids are turning 4 (girl) & 5 (boy) in December. The cruise is for 4-10 year olds (and I know the potty training bit, and it's no problem with my 4 year old...she's been trained for more than a year). This would be the first time dh and I did something like that...I mean, we get babysitters at home, they go to the gym nursery, preschool, and play at friends' houses, but something about it being away from home and on a boat, makes me wonder if I should be protective. So, reassure me they'll be fine!! LOL! They're excited about the prospect and are outgoing kids, so I think they'll do fine and have a blast. I just need reassurance! (We're also considering a night at Simba's Clubhouse during our stay--we're staying at AKL--so we can have a mom and dad only dinner!!)

THANKS!

I don't have any experiance with the cruise (though I hope they still do it when my youngest is 4!), but we were in WDW last January. I didn't notice where you are from, but we're from NE, and although it was quite cold 2 afternoons/evenings we were there, it was much warmer then where we were coming from. If you pack a warm coat they shoul be fine. We had our winter things from our trip to the airport from home, and didn't need them, though some people had on the whole nine yards (which gave us a chuckle :p ).

In my experience, this cruise books up at the 90 day mark, so you're not likely to be able to get it anyway. I'd first check to see if it's available.

If you are able to get it, I think the kids would be fine. From what I've read, they pair the kids up, so your two would probably be paired together. I've booked it for our XMAS trip for my 2 DS's and my nephew. They'll be wearing life jackets, and I've read that they provide you with a pager in case of any emergency. Good luck with booking it!

I'd like my ds to do it........he will be 4 then. His brother will be 11. Do you think they would let 11 year old go too?

I'd definitely put a life jacket on them..........I am one of those to make my kids crazy with water safety.

I think they'll be perfectly safe. They do this all the time, and if they didn't think they could handle 4 and 5 year olds, they wouldn't offer to accept those ages.

Weather-wise, I'd put 'em in long pants, sneakers, long-sleeve shirts and a fleece..........they can take the fleece off if they need to. Just my guess, based on what I've read of Jan. in Florida!

Thanks, guys!! We're from Memphis, TN so it's not too cold here in January...well, 40's but not brutal. I was hoping (fingers crossed) for 50's and 60's in Orlando that week. LOL! Hopefully, I won't jinx myself!

And, there are spots left that day. Quite a few actually according to the CM I spoke to on the reservation line. She mentioned there would be a lifeguard onboard. But, I'm glad the pp mentioned life jackets and the beeper. Those make me feel much better about it.

I think I'm going to call and book it!!

Hi --

Our 3 kids did the Pirate Cruise on our last trip. Their ages at the time were DS4, DD7, DS9. They do pair up all the children with a partner, so they stick with their "buddy". There were two older female CM who were running the cruise. It worked out very well, as my older son looked after my younger son, and my daughter quickly made friends with another girl. Each child is given a bandana with their name, and is given a life vest (must wear, no exceptions). They had a wonderful time sailing the Seven Seas looking for treasure. They will have a blast! Also we booked not far in advance (say 60 days), and was lucky (from what I hear) to get them on the cruise. Therefore, since only about 10-12 kids are on the cruise, I would book it as soon as you have your schedule planned.
