Anyone know if these are edible? (Therefore not really Keepsakes) Or are they actual keepsakes as in put them in your bag and take home? Just curious so I know what Im getting for dessert when we have dinner at BB.

In theory they are edible as they are made out of sugar, but I would not try to eat one as they are very hard. I can see my treasure chest from my desert sitting on the top of my piano in the room I am dissing in right now!

really they last? what about the sail? could it last? (i thought for some reason these things melted or something and that you could eat them if you wanted tho i dont want to

Great how do they travel? are they that hard?

Theoretically, they are edible...as in, one could eat them and not need a trip to the E.R. for a stomach-pump procedure. However, as they look to be made of gum paste and/or sugar + merengue powder, they wouldn't taste very good and you might chip a tooth on them

I say this not because I've attempted to eat, for example, the sail to the Cookie Boat, but because I've worked extensively with gum paste and sugar molds for cake decorating and...yeah...it's best to not eat these things.

We brought our sail home and it was fine until it got knocked over and broke on the floor. :( but we made it home fine. I just put it in tissue paper and wrapped in a couple of small bags and it was fine.

That is funny Capt. Bane! :) ;) he he!

The tasty mint doubloons do fit into the chest, the sail is large, it will not fit into the treasure chest, it could be placed on top of it though, carefully. :)

Is there something other than the sail? And I would think if it is packed carefully it'd travel well. They look pretty hard.

Chef Duff of Ace of Cakes[food network:happytv: ] uses Power Tools to shape the Gum Paste into the shapes they use for their top of the line cakes.

The Davey Jones treasure chest mini replica, it is served with the Tortuga Trio of Cream Brulee, brittany cookies are placed into the treasure chest. I do not recommend even remotely, attempting to eat the chest, for it is hard as a rock, now the cookies on the other hand, are very nice.
I believe the Key Lime Pie is also served with it.

If you're worried about it getting crushed, pack along a rubbermaid to bring it home in.

We accidentally left our treasure chest and extra coins at our hotel. :( But yeah, I wouldn't eat it. Our waitress said it tastes like slightly sweet cardboard.

we have rubber maid any on know how big it is? (want to make sure ited fit in the one i have maybe the sail to

The ants liked my treasure chests just fine. Now they're in plastic and have little chunks missing.

I would guess the chest is 3-4" tall. One of the deep square zip loc disposable type containers should fit it (the ones that look square and are almost the same dimension all around). I would guess a size 2 square rubbermaid container woudl fit the sail. Going by memory, though, no guarantees.

ty i found a small chest that would fit in the bag it could hold the chest. (its a small cooler) might be able to hold the sail to. i just need to take like bubble wrap or something soft (or just use one my shirts or two to wrap it up)
