Piper's Practically Perfect PTR..Wish Trip! 3/2-8...Upd Pg 126- TR Link!! Hooray!

Growing up in OC, CA, I was thrilled when we moved to north TX because we finally got a little taste of seasons. Nothing extreme, but a couple of snowy days here and there, some brisk days in fall and spring. It was lovely, and in NORTH TX the summers weren't that humid, in my opinion.

Amanda, where are you finding the detailed info on parades and fireworks? I have the hours, the crowd predictors and such, but haven't been able to find the parades...Maybe I'm still too far out to have them schedule those yet?

Allears had the parade and fireworks listed up to 3 months out, I think. My understanding is that you have to keep an eye on them though, because they can change when you look at them this far out. If they're not listed there now, they should be at the beginning of Jan, from what I understood looking at it. When you go to look at the scheduled hours for the month, they list them at the bottom.

Thanks for the info on Dine with Shamu. I didnt realize it was a pay up front and theres no way I can do it right now. I guess I'll just check again later.

Melissa I printed a schedule of park hours and parade fireworks times from right here on the DIS but exactly where it was I cant remember :rotfl: I've been to way to many places. I'll look again and see if I can find it.

:rotfl:
You're lucky you missed out, it's a mess here. I stocked up on bread and milk yesterday though, and made a big batch of homemade veggie beef soup in the crockpot this morning..yumm!

That has been the weirdest thing i have seen since moving to North Carolina... if it might even possibly sorta snow... there is no bread and milk on the shelves. :confused3 Is everyone making bread pudding?

I would have loved some homemade veggie soup but since I am trapped here with just the boys  we are just eating hamburgers or something. :surfweb:

And it snowed yesterday...it was beautiful... then it turned to rain/sleet mix and today it is just cold.

LOL Susan! It is weird, a very southern thing..I can't decide which is worse, the grocery store crush, or the way everyone drives once it starts/has been snowing.. As for us, I had maybe 1/4 gallon of milk and 6 slices of bread...we're 15 min out of town on a good day, and usually it takes them at least a day after a 4 in snow to get our roads driveable, so I didn't know how long it would be this time! Luckily it looks like the weather is going to warm up, so it may not be too bad. Normally I don't do the last minute grocery stop, but with the foot or so expected, I wasn't taking chances!

Homemade veggie soup is very easy if you have frozen veggies, you can use bay leaf and lawry's for the seasoning if you don't have beef broth (I didn't this time..forgot to pick it up!)..I also added ground beef. I'm a simple cook though.

The park owner has finally plowed the park loop, it was very pretty before that, lol. Still kind of pretty, but I love it when the snow is untouched.

You're welcome hon..I'm going to end up doing the same thing. I was very surprised when I saw that. At least that's what I'm assuming..when I went to the checkout it was like any online store checkout, telling you what the charge was going to be, etc.

i didn't read all the replies so i may be repeating some comments there....

On MK day- 1900 Park Fare @ 5:00pm
Chef Mickey;s @ 5:10pm

One of those will get cancelled, possibly both, that day, though right now I’m tempted to keep Park Fare even if she chooses another meal at Epcot..all I’ve heard about it are positives, and it really does sound like fun. Now..help please..Spectro starts at 7:00pm… does a 5:00 ADR leave time to get from CM or 1900 back to MK by 7 without being in a huge rush? If not, I’ll change the ressie to 4 or whenever you guys think would be better!

i'd go for 1900 and try to see if you can get a 4:30 ADR (or close to it). i'm pretty sure they start serving dinner at 4:30. they do a cute little ceremony when they open the doors at 4:30, too. if you can't get your time changed, it's not like there's a huge difference between 4:30 and 5:00. but if you can i'd change it to the earlier time.

i hear chef mickey's is overrated. i've eaten at 1900 and the food was great and the characters were AWESOME!

Now, here is the new dilemma…Bearing in mind this will probably be Piper’s only trip (as a child, anyway):

If you had a 3 day hopper, and knew you wanted a day each at MK & Epcot…

Would you split a day between AK & DHS?
Spend a whole day at AK?
Spend a whole day at DHS?

i think what i'd do is do rope drop at AK, ride the safari and maybe do a couple of other attractions, then head to DHS for the remainder of the day. i would pick out a few attractions you know you want to do at each park and that way you can concentrate on those and anything else is bonus. i'd definitely go to DHS that night if fantasmic is showing.

by the way, love the snow pics! it's heading my sister's way in connecticut. she's so bummed right now because she was supposed to fly home to nashville tomorrow but her flight was cancelled. now it's on monday. it's fun if you don't have to go anywhere!

Don't forget that with your GKTW button you won't have a wait at most of the rides, and possibly the shows as well. So you should be fine splitting AK and DHS. That's what I'm planning at this point. My kids are "littler" than Piper so I don't expect them to love DHS, but I certainly don't want to skip it either. Decisions, decisions!

Evening Dawn..
I've pretty much decided I'm keeping 1900 Park Fare regardless..it just looks too fun to miss. I am going to try to change the ressie to 4:30 though. Looks like we're going to be stuck at least one more day..temps are supposed to stay below freezing all day tomorrow, the roads are going to be a giant mess..no thank you!

Hey, Melissa...
I know..I hate the decision thing. Don't forget all the Playhouse Disney characters are at DHS..don't know if Tessa and Phoebe are into them or not, Piper used to be into them big time, and will still occasionally watch a Little Einsteins dvd!

Not too much. T loves MM Clubhouse, and knows who most of the others are but doesn't really watch them. Her fave shows are on PBS and Nick, go figure. Phoebe loves the OLD Baby Einstein videos with mostly music, not so many of the sill puppets. She could care less about Little Einsteins. Not a lot of Meet N Greet opportunities to thrill her. But she'll have a wonderful time just exploring the park, shows and rides anyway.

Piper likes PBS a lot too...she loves her some Fetch! Also Wordgirl. She's s.o.l since everything converted to digital though, we don't get PBS anymore. Overall I was NOT impressed with the switch. At some point we're going to have to get a rooftop antenna I guess, it's just not a priority for us.

Yay for ADR's. I think you guys will like 1900 PF. I also agree with moving the time up. I would also do early am at AK then on to DHS. Beautiful snow pics.

Thank you, Mary  I tried to move Park Fare earlier but the online system is down right now, I'll try again in the am and if it's still down, I'll call. :goodvibes

Piper's symptoms have all come back and actually gotten worse yesterday and today, she's running a fever again, requiring a lot of O2 and was vomiting mucus today. It would appear that the oral antibiotics were enough to knock things back for a while, but not enough to wipe anything out. :headache: I'll be calling her Drs back in the morning to see if we can start IVs at home or if she needs to go in. If she needs to be admitted I'm going to try to make arrangements for her to go to Roanoke, be discharged Thurs and check back in Sat either there or at UVa..they will prob prefer UVa (as would I) so maybe we can figure out why she's having so many problems suddenly. Thoughts and prayers would be appreciated.

On a lighter note..I have discovered the mixing bowl method of snow removal..I wish Piper took good pictures, because I'm sure I looked hilarious "scooping" out a path to the Jeep and scooping out some of the snow behind the rear wheels (It was taller than they were!) so I could throw it into 4wd and move it into the bare spot. Needless to say, when we go to town tomorrow I'll be buying a snow shovel if there are any to be had!

I was able to get a 4:40 ADR at 1900, hopefully that will help a bit with the rushing situation.

You and Piper are in my prayers!

Love your snow removal technique. Whatever works is good!

So sorry to hear about Piper! You are both in my thoughts and prayers

Thoughts and prayers to both you and Piper.

You and Piper are in my prayers!

Love your snow removal technique. Whatever works is good!

Prayers for Piper being made !!!

Thank you all for the prayers  I was really hoping this new antibiotic was going to do the trick as it would give us another option, but obviously that didn't work out as well as I had hoped. I'll update tomorrow at some point once I know what's going on.

I'm sending good vibes for you and Piper! :goodvibes

The visual of you scooping away the snow makes me giggle.
