Piper's Practically Perfect PTR..Wish Trip! 3/2-8...Upd Pg 126- TR Link!! Hooray!

And thank you for the compliment, Millie..when I see what she goes through on a daily basis, and knowing time could be limited, it really gives incentive to try to make each day at least a little special.
Your welcome! :lovestruc Seeing how not one of us know the days we have, we should all being doing something special everyday for the one's we love. Thank you for inspiring me to this conclusion. :lovestruc

Especially for poofers!

As promised, here are this year's gingerbread house pics. She had a really good time making her house, as usual. She fell asleep doing her vest, and I almost fell asleep waiting for pics to upload. :rotfl: Anyway...here they are, I added last years pic again so we'd have a side by side comparison!
Looks like she had a good time and you had a quiet a day. :thumbsup2 She's grown so much since last year, and her house is beautiful.

Mmmm, looks yummy. popcorn::

I want to eat the door.
I know! I was thinking how good the Peeps Tree looked!

Aww Piper is such a cutie :cutie: and she looks so much older compared to last year! The house is great, what a fun tradition!

what a cute gingerbread house!

We usualy do them every year made out of grahm crackers.

I remember doing graham cracker ones in girl scouts!

Piper is so pretty and the Gingerbread House is too cute!! Thanks for showing the pictures to us.

You're welcome, and thank you!

I want to eat the door.

I have two questions...when does your flight come in...and do you have good dental insurance? :rotfl:

Piper is quite the little artist! That gingerbread house is amazing. Good job Piper!

She really enjoys doing the houses..I can tell a difference every year as she starts wanting them to be more detailed, and more patterned, rather than just putting the candy on all willy-nilly!

Piper has taught me a lot. When we're out and about and I see/hear someone yelling at/slapping, etc a child at a store or event, I really want to go up to them and tell them exactly how lucky they are and how much they're taking for granted. I never do, but people just kill me sometimes.

We didn't eat aaaaany of the peep trees when we were making the gingerbread house...:rolleyes1

Thanks, Dawn...and I know she does look a lot older..short hair always does that to her, I think the glasses contribute also though. It almost made me misty last night looking at them. The time goes by sooo fast! (she's only had them since June.)

Whew! I just read your whole trip report! I can't wait to find out the dates of your trip. :cool1: Piper will be so excited. Can't wait to hear more!

IM DIGGING the wood pile, good idea.:thumbsup2 very creative

Gotta love tootsie rolls! I'll let her read an edited version of all this after Christmas..she's going to  all the compliments on her house..

I love the size of the snowman in relation to the house. Adorable!

LOL..I noticed that afterward and was like.."dang..I didn't think of cutting the marshmallows in half!" It does add to the cuteness factor though...

Very cute pics! Thanks for taking the time to upload!

I don't mind uploading the pics, I'm just not a very patient person, and usually doing it late at night since Piper doesn't know I'm keeping a PTR..and yes..she has asked if we have one... Christmas morning should be berry indaresting!

That house is soooo cute! I'd love to do that with Mikayla. I might if I can swing it and she's interested. We need a few family Christmas traditions.
Piper does look so much more grown up in this year's picture. Boy do they grow soooo fast!

You should, it's pretty easy, actually. What Gram does is actually put the house part together the night before Piper comes over to decorate it. They tell you to let the walls and roof set for a certain amount of time to make sure they're good and dry before you start decorating. Most of the craft stores have the wilton kits for $10 or less. We have done homemade gingerbread in the past, but honestly it is extremely time intensive, the gingerbread is fragile for a day or so..it's just more trouble than it's worth for a child's project. So anyway..we use the wilton kit, and I usually make a trip to the dollar store for more candies to use.

I know, they grow up too fast, for my taste, anyway. I'm one of those mean parents though..we do not do Hannah Montana or Jamie Lynn Spears in my house. I want my 8 yr old to look like an 8 yr old, not a 20 yr old on crack looking to support her habit on a local street corner! :lmao:

Disclaimer: I am not stating that I feel every 8 yr old in hannah montana clothing looks like a (ahem) escort..just most of them!

I had been thinking about doing a gingerbread house. Now that Deyki has seen the pic of yours, I think I will need to follow through and do one. We will make a log cabin house out of allergy free pretzel rods and decorate it with "safe" candies.

Tell Piper she did an awesome job!

She really does enjoy doing it, and I LOVE the log cabin idea..we may have to do that next year! I started to say not to worry about the candy you use because we don't eat the house, it's just to look at, but Piper does eat some while she's making it..though not as much as you might think! You're prob better off using things he can eat (but you already knew that!) I've been following along your report and keeping your fam in our prayers. Really hoping you get a positive outcome soon so you can go back to enjoying the holiday.

Love the gingerbread house pictures! You guys did a great job. :thumbsup2

This year I got DS a gingerbread train instead of a house. I hope it's not too hard to put together. We will start sometime this week after school.

Thank you! We've never done the train either..Gram and I shopped for the kits while Piper was at her Dad's for Thanksgiving..they also had the kits this year to make a miniature village..I started to mention it..got the word "village" out of my mouth, saw the look of horror on Gram's face, and dropped it...:lmao: To be fair doing the house takes about 4 hrs by the time you let stuff dry so you don't knock it off doing something else, so I can't blame her..I just thought it was really funny!

Alabaster is such a good elf..he left all the tp attached to the roll so it would be easy for me to clean it up afterwards! (And yes, it's in the bathroom now ready for use!..Maybe I'm too frugal!)

Yes, you are too frugal!! :lmao:

You could always sit and pick out the cinnamon..:lmao: Try mixing a mini batch of royal icing..maybe the cinnamon won't show up too badly? Don't know how much we're talking being mixed in. Yanno, even if it does look like yellow snow, I know Piper wouldn't care..maybe your lil ones wouldn't either? I wish I had known, I would have sent you some candy :goodvibes

Yeah, I could do that, but it'd take about 5 years. HA!

They won't care, but they are goingto look more like log cabins than gingerbread houses I afear.

;)

Made it to the next page-DIBS on the roof!!

Seriously- you all did a wonderful job!! They look really great, and so colorful!

What a fun way to spend the day :)
