Piper's Practically Perfect PTR..Wish Trip! 3/2-8...Upd Pg 126- TR Link!! Hooray!

Yes, you are too frugal!! :lmao:

I know I am...lol. But with tp at $4/pack..that would have been like throwing a dollar in the trash can! I am going to have to work so hard when we're on her trip to NOT think about money..it :scared1: me just considering it!

Yeah, I could do that, but it'd take about 5 years. HA!

They won't care, but they are goingto look more like log cabins than gingerbread houses I afear.

;)

Be sure and take pics for us when you do them..if nothing else, it will give you something to look back on and laugh at in a few years!

Yeah, I can see my scrapbooking caption now-

The Year We Made Outhouses...

I love the Gingerbread houses! I am amazed. We have tried 2 different times to do the whole gingerbread house thing. The first time the 4 boys were very young (my nephews are always with us) and I baked all the gingerbread and all that jazz... It was a fiasco! By the end of the event we just sat at the table breaking off a piece of gingerbread and smearing a bit of icing on it and eating it. It was that much of a no-go!

The next time was just like 3 years ago... so 10 years later. Bought a kit. Should be simple right? WRONG. It was a mess and we had icing glue all over and it kept falling and cracking and we would add more icing and it was just a no win situation. We figure if we could use a glue gun perhaps...

When we were at GF we went in and saw that huge one and we all just stood back and stared. There might be another attempt in our future. I could see it in their eyes.

It is a pain in the butt making the gingerbread yourself unless you have the time and patience to practice making it before you do the real deal. Gram and I even took a class a long time ago and still have trouble getting the pieces not burned, not warped, not breaking, etc. Personally I have better things to do with my time, lol.

I really do think the way to go with the kits is to make up the house yourself beforehand and let the kids decorate the next day. Gram and I make the house, then use cans to prop it up while it dries.

I would love to see the ones at GF in person..I've seen the pics and they're just incredible! I can't even imagine the patience and steady hands that go into those....

Great update! Loved the gingerbread house. Last year we attempted our first kit. (The Disney Princess one of course.) It was "okay", but I'm pretty sure it wasn't up to code.

Thank you! I have to admit my mouth went  ! At the mention of a Disney Princess kit! I have never seen that one..will have to look for it. Of course Piper isn't all about the royalty..but mommy on the other hand..:rolleyes1 We may just end up with 2 houses next year. :wizard:

The Gingerbread house is adorable! As is Piper standing next to it! :)
I am with Jordan regarding the door....maybe I can split it with him, but I would also like the snowman and the tree.
I have made them a few times with my niece (at my parents house----don't want that mess in my house!) and they can be a bit of a pain. My mother always puts it outside after Christmas for the squirrels and birds--they love it!

Thanks Tracy! I never thought about putting it outside for the wildlife, Piper would totally groove on that, I think we might have to do it! I had seen where someone smashes their's on new year's day, and mentioned that to Piper, and I honestly thought she was going to burst into tears! That is definitely a no-go. I'll have to mention the feeding the animals option! Beats just throwing it away :)

I liked those sugared gum drop type candies..I think Brach's made those and they were in individual packs. They had an orange one..mmmmm.....

The snowman...mmmmm.......

But it might be if we put our "outhouse" ones with it.

Aw Piper is such a cutie!!! I love her gingerbread house she did an amazing job. Lots of hard work went into that one! We did one last year and it didnt make it 10mins after we built it.The walls came tumbling down;)

So as you all know, I thought I would be getting dates yesterday..my cell phone was attached to my side like marshmallow fluff to a knife! I was on constant alert ! :listen: The phone never rang. :sad1: Piper and I left our house at about 11am yesterday, and were out until 6:30 or so. I considered calling Katie myself, but I hate feeling like I'm bugging someone, so I didn't. So we get home..and... dumdumdum...she called our home number! I have a landline that is for dial-up internet only, we don't use it, and I make a point of telling people to call my cell, but apparently wires got crossed somewhere. Of course, the message was simply "give me a call." I totally understand that but I was bummed last night.

So this morning I was just waiting for 9am to be able to call her back! The minutes draaaaaaagged by..and now...I HAVE DATES!! :cool1::banana::cloud9::dance3::yay::woohoo: Yes, once again..I am a bit excited! I'm grinning like an idiot and forcing myself to not start dancing around the living room! I'm looking at tickers to put in my siggy..rejoicing that we got a date in the window I wanted..(I was afraid we wouldn't since there have been other families on the boards that could not get dates in the window and had to go later..hot weather is an issue for Piper, so much later and we would have had to move the trip to winter 2010!) So..are you ready for the dates?? Are you as excited (or nearly) as I am?? Drumroll please.....

March 2-8, 2010!

The weather should be great....the crowd levels are one of the lowest of the year...and I am one happy Mommy! Feel free to have a mini-party of your own to celebrate! :rotfl:

:jumping1::jumping1::jumping1: YAY!! I am so happy for you guys! You are all going to have such an amazing trip and it will be here in no time!! :yay:

An excellent point! Throw in a Hereshe's Kiss fire hydrant and we could be down right classy!

I'm not sure I follow you here, except that if we did that, it'd look like the dog did #2 instead of #1. Classy, all the way.

:cool1: Im so excited for you! And guess what, our dates overlap so we'll be at GKTW at the same time. It would be awesome to meet you and Piper. Maybe at the Christmas party??
