Disney&RedSox - You made a comment about theft from your hotel room safe. Their is a product on the market now that lets you put you own lock on the outside of your room safe. That way no one with a master code can open the safe without damaging you own lock. Look on the internet for a product called "Milockie" hotel safe lock. This is a small portable lock device that you would take in your luggage.

Thefts from cruise ship safes are very rare, as well as hotel room safes. However when you do read about it, the reports of thefts from hotel room safes seem to be centered around from hotels in Spain, Canary Islands, Mexico, and the Caribbean - rarely in the US.

You are right about room safes on ships. Once we got into our cabin and the previous person left the safe locked, we had to wait for 2 ship officers to come and unlock it!

Or else it ended up on eBay. Seems like some airport baggage handler has a side business going, with all these reports of pins being stolen. I mean, do you ever stop to wonder where these eBay sellers get this stuff? There are only so many "grandma's attic" or "unused wedding gifts" after all....

The term "valuable" should include anything you or your child could not bear to lose, not just he obvious like cameras or laptops. This includes collectibles, unless there is absolutely no way you will be permitted to take it through security (like a snowglobe).

This past October, just my DH and myself went to WDW to celebrate our 10th anniversary. We went to the Spirit of Aloha and got the flower leis. My DD7 was so excited about it when I called her as she was missing us very much. When we got home, she asked about the leis. I went to take them out of my suitcase and ...SURPRISE....they were gone. She was heartbroken. I spoke to MCO and PVD and they pretty much said nothing would be done as there was no monetary value. But....I emailed Disney and wouldn't you know...two weeks later I get a package with about 10 flower leis in it. That is why I love Disney. Their customer service is OUTSTANDING!!!
