Hi Everyone,
I will be heading to WDW in Sept. I was just wondering if you are allowed to have your pins on the plane in a carry-on bag or do they have to be placed in checked luggage?
Thanks,
-Ed

Judy and I used to have one hard sided carry on bag just for pins. One time we weighed it and found it was 35 pounds.

We traveled to WDW enough that we got known by a couple of the Security supervisors at Dulles airport. After the scan we were taken to a private area where the TSA people would open the bag, remove items and go through the pin books. We would stand away and just chat with the supervisor while the inspection was going on. Then I would repack the suitcase and we would go on our way.

We've always carried ours on the plane.

When we get to the security area. We take our pins out of our carry-on and place them on the belt seperate. They have always looked through the pins but at least they don't have to tear the whole bag apart. As long as the pins are in a bag/container by themself it's a pretty quick process.

I flew out of Philadelphia, PA 6/26. I had 4 pin bags in my carryon. It went through security with no problem. Coming home I had even more pins in the bag (I went to the pin event in Disney). They pulled it off the belt in Orlando, opened the carry on and the pin bags and then sent me on my way. Took about 5 extra minutes. I never pack my pins as I have read stories of the "getting lost out of suitcases" :scared1:& I don't want to take that chance. Penny

Thanks for the replies. I guess I’ll chance it if they actually let you guys get on the plane with them. I was just worried they would make you place them in you checked bag or they wouldn’t let you on the plane.

I always pack my pin bags and my lanyard in my carry on bag and I never had problems taking my pins on the plane. Sometimes when going threw security my pin bags got looked at and sometimes they were not looked at. Plus I am sure the TSA agents at Orlando International Airport have seen their fare share of pin bags and one time one agent didn't know what they were when looking at my bag, however another agent knew right away they were Disney pins.

We went to the pin event at WDW last month and flew from Huntsville to Orlando and took nothing but carry on's. We had a small amount of pins going down, but even more, including several boxed sets coming back that were in our carry on's. We had no trouble at all.
