I have been stocking up on pins since last year and also bought the lanyards for my two kids. This will be our first trip. Should i divide up the pins and put them on the lanyards and give to my kids before we get to disney or when we get there.

I think I would do something special with them like... A week before you leave they wake up to a present... its a pin... this happens every day that week until the day you leave when they wake up to the lanyard with the remaning pins on it.

I am thinking of doing this for my husband and kids for our next trip (My dh is a big kid and has been coveting the Nightmare before Christmas lanyard for so long lol)

Last year, I put their Disney goodies in a gift bag, and they opened the gifts in the morning when they woke up in the car.

This year we are flying, and I have snuck the new things in the carry on bag. This will help them focus more on being excited (new stuff) than worried (never flown before).

Tink visits our house in the middle of night (much like Santa ;)) and leaves a basket of Disney presents. DD knows that when Tink comes...it's Disney Day! Check out my TRs for pics of the Tink basket.

I went to your TR to see the tink basket and now I'm hooked! The basket was great though, did you put all her new outfits in it as well?

didn't read thru the whole thread but wanted to mention something....
learn from our past upset........

My niece lost some pins that had that black rubber mickey head on the back. They do/can fall off as one is so busy in parks...so personally we bought (on ebay) these metal locking type backs that have worked great!

It was sad that she was so upset about losing them ...and it is simple to avoid that potential.

She is now HOOKED on trading and we got some pins on ebay (25 for 32., thats just 1.32 a pin, just this week for her to trade at parks for upcoming trip) Last time she was buying the pins at DTD to trade, so expensive and so un necessary!
have a great trip!

thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Can you tell me what the name of the backings for the pins are called? I really dont want to risk losing any pins as i bought quite a few last year for my kids.

The locking backs are also available in the parks, you should be able to find them with the pins. They are just called "locking backs" as far as I can remember. I have quite a few on my lanyard. :)

Pin trading is very fun, we are a family of 4 and love to pin trade!!!! If you have any questions feel free to ask, I also know of a few really good eBay sellers that I would be happy to share with you.
