Where does one find a source of pins in order to have some for trading? And I understand that they all must be Disney stamps with an official mark on the back? And do grown-ups get to do this activity, or just the kids? Since we are now officially in the "double digits", I want to get this all lined up.

Thanks in advance

Of course -- adults too!!!!!!!!
Pin trading is a family affair for us!
Bid soon on a "lot" of Disney pins on eBay. Search for "disney pins lot". Be sure to add shipping in your per-pin cost and shoot for approx. $2.50 per pin. It CAN be done. Remember - it doesn't matter WHAT the disney pins are - you'll be trading them away. Be sure to go to pin-trading events on the boat and look for the book of pins to trade - ask if you don't see it. Also, have your kids lanyards with you for most ship board activities as many CMs wear their lanyards and you can trade with any of them. Finally, if you can't find anyone with a lanyard on - go to Guest Services (particularly early in the cruise when they are not busy). There are always 3 or 4 CM with lanyards who are happy to trade with you and the kids.

We got a bunch of pins on sale at the Disney Store after Christmas last year....just for trading.

Be careful on e-bay. People sell pins that look like Disney, but when you get them, they aren't always real Dis pins. Most people are honest, but I got taken once on a "lot" of pins.

The Disney Store has not sold pins since late last winter.
Your best bet is to try ebay.

We just returned from the Wonder (12/6) cruise. I had purchased a lot of 40 pins off e-bay for my son - about 1/2 were doubles. He really got into trading but mostly traded with the crew members. We found most of the pin trading gatherings were adults buying the limited addition pins which can only be purchased at these events. The cheapest pin in the store was $6.50 I think.

Here's where my tip REALLY helps --
At the pin trading time in the evening, when the adults are buying their precious pins, find the pin-trading book. It is usually on a table near by. ASK the CM selling pins if you can't find it. Then take your time, and look through the book of pins. You can take ANY pins you want as long as you replace it with one from your lanyard (and the rule is as long as it isn't a duplicate ON THAT PAGE). My kids LOVED the book and looked over every page. We picked up cruise pins that were being sold on the ship for $10+ that we traded for our eBay Disney pins!

uhoh - I think there are 2 p's in the URL -
I tried cheapins.com and got nothing but cheappins.com came up with a site. I'm gonna look into it!

There are a few "Discount" Disney stores in some outlet malls. I just visited the one in Branson, Missouri and bought several pins at a very good discount. Some where for about $2. I know there is one near San Antonio and just south of Washington, DC also.

I looked a cheappins.com, and the prices were pretty steep. On EBay I saw lots of pins that started bidding at .01...but they jump quickly to $4.00 or so. Someone said to find someone who will sell a "lot" of pins. Where do I find this person?

I'm not sure which "person" you are referring to -- the person who said buy a "lot" of pins or the person selling a "lot" of pins...
Well, I suggested buying a "lot". Just go to eBay and search for "disney pins lot". You'll find "lots" for anywhere from 2-100 pins. I usually purchased lots of 10-12 pins for around $25.00 including shipping.

I purchased the "lot" of pins a e-bay. I started looking at individual pins and quickly realized it would cost $6 to $10 a pin if I purchased them that way. Being cheap, I started looking for an e-bay seller with multiple listings of pins for sale and a good feedback rating. Next, I then sent the seller an e-mail asking if they would be interested in doing a package deal. I was hoping to get 20 pins around $5 each. The seller offered to sell me 40 for $100. The only problem I had was establishing a PayPal account

I've used www.cheappins.com twice now and had very positive experiences. They usually offer a baker's dozen lot of 13 different pins (they pick them) for $20-$25. I paid around $25 incl. shipping, got them very quickly, and gave my DDs lanyards with trader pins already attached on our way to WDW in June. They love it, and the pins were perfect for trading. They had a great time trading them all for ones they were interested in with the CMs. I went back a few weeks ago and bought some stocking stuffer pins for around $2-$3 each. I'd recommend them highly-

Jawan- where was your tip when I needed it! We were on the early December Wonder and my daughter and son had all their pins (purchased on cheappins.com). All we saw were a lot of women and men purchasing pens. Too bad we didn't know about the book. Next time....
