Id love to know about pins, where do you get them? How much? Is there any other fun/different things to do for first timers?? My husband and kids will all have their first... And i havent been in a long LONG time so im not sure what there really is anymore lol
My boys are 4 and 6 TIA!!

We enjoyed taking a break in the Animation Building in California Adventure where there are a couple of cool activities like Turtle Talk with Crush, the Animation Academy, and the Beast's library where you do a survey to see who is your Disney character match! Always fun, though a bit busy in there now that Anna and Else have taken up residence.

The Main Street cinema shows classic Disney cartoons and is also a nice place to cool down.

ToonTown is adorable and full of fun, interactive props. I love our pictures from that area!

Don't forget to walk through Sleeping Beauty's Castle and visit Snow White's wishing well!

Pin trading can be fun, but when we tried with grandkids, a lot of the CM's had the same pins! A footprints theme and an acorn one seemed to be standard that week. It left them wanting more variety after a few days. We also strongly recommend LOCKING PIN BACKS! The Mickey head ones they come with are not secure at all, and all the kids started losing pins! We had purchased some metal ones on line before a previous trip. I heard a CM say that they usually have some for sale, but they were out of stock.

Have fun planning!

haha sorry i guess i mean buttons. i had no idea people collected pins as a hobby. i just heard about getting a first timers button and wondered if there were other things that are fun like this for first timers/kids

Fun. That is the key word!!! Wearing that button will have CMS greeting you and strangers engaging you with tips, ideas, help and "How is your day going."
But to engage in the rest of the free stuff available is really not fun as a first time visitor. Instead of focusing on the next fun activity, you as the planner are formulating how to find that free paper!!!! So wear that button proudly but don't sweat the other stuff!!

Disneyland has several different buttons that you can pick up at Guest Services (e.g., City Hall in DL or Chamber of Commerce in DCA). Many of the roaming CMs, stores, etc. also have buttons (same designs as Guest Services), so you can ask there if the lines are long at Guest Services. The most common ones you see are 1st Visit, Celebration, Birthday, and Anniversary (usually), and Just Graduated in the early parts of summer. Each of the Character Meals also gives guests a button (e.g., Goofy's Kitchen).

You can get them all around the place but I highly recommend asking for them when arriving at the parking

Ask for a Jungle Cruise Map from the Cast Member as you exit the Jungle Cruise Ride (just as you get off the boat).

Ask CM at the Loading Dock if you can skipper the Mark Twain.
