Pink One Direction Birthday Party

Etsy has the best supplies hands down for a theme that is a little obscure. Great suggestions here. Just add some posters, wrapping paper, balloons (bargainballoons.ca) and lots of other rock star and coloured theme items. A cake with an edible image or cupcakes with picks from Etsy, favour tags, pins, chocolate wrappers, water bottle wrappers, invitations and much more can be found on Etsy also. Google colouring pages and games and you can print a few to either add to loot bags or have as an activity. How about making chocolates with a guitar or music note mold? Cookie decorating with a music theme? My DS always seems to pick something hard to find and I love the challenge! Have fun!

Love all the ideas! Thanks! I found a poster book of 1D on Amazon for $6.xx. I think I'm going to use Dancemomof3's idea and put them on balloon weights. I'm going to try to laminate them (does Office Max or Staples do that?) or maybe I'll try using clear contact paper. In my head, the party "rocks" hahaha

I also found blow up microphones that I want to use in the centerpieces. The kids can take them home after. I plan on making pink and purple sugar cookies with Hershey hugs on top to put in the 1D cups, wrap in a clear bag, and tie with a favor tag. Easy favor and not junk laying around.

My husband says I'm making things too complicated, but I really do enjoy planning!

Geez I wish I had found this thread sooner! Just had my ODD's party last night (just turned eight) and she also wanted 1D theme. The cake I ended up with was a grocery store cake with an allover rainbow airbrush and sprinkles that I had them pipe on happy bday for her. I went several places to find decorations, plates/napkins/tablecloth but no luck whatsoever (yet there's still Hannah Montana stuff and she's been off the air how long now? :scratchin). I ended up getting the pink rock on/neon peace sign theme stuff at Party City, some headbands, colored hair strand bobby pins, a 24-block of mini nail polish bottles, and some temp tattoos as party favors. All of the girls loved that stuff, plus I don't have to worry about shoving filler crap in a goody bag that will just get tossed. But the birthday girl ended up getting a 1D pajama set so she was happy.

The planning is my favorite part. My daughters birthday isn't until July  Our Office Max does laminate pictures, I'm not sure if that's a company wide thing or not. I use the clear contact paper, which is why I glue to card stock and posterboard. Stuff covered with contact paper tends to be a little more flexible and "floppy" while stuff that's laminated is stiffer

Good idea! I'll put it on cardboard/card stock first too! My daughter wants a piñata too. I've found guitars, but I thought about using Pinterest to make our own.... We'll see! Lol

Just a thought, but a piñata may be a good use for the wrapping paper. I have never done this but a friend of mine makes her kids piñatas with balloons and newspaper. She usually paints the outside the color and design she wants but maybe the outside layer, instead of newspaper, could be the wrapping paper. I'm not sure if that work or not but maybe? I bought a bunch of pumpkin piñatas on clearance at our Wal Mart for .50 a piece about a week after Halloween last year. For my sons WWE birthday party I cut the stem off and spray painted one black and glued pictures of his favorite wrestlers to it. The kids thought it was great. I plan on doing the same thing for this party. They don't really care, they just want the candy, lol.

Oooooh that's a great idea. I'll have to figure that out. I'm sure I could do it, making it a pull string piñata rather than one you hit. There's directions on Pinterest on how I make a pull string piñata using crepe paper, but I don't see why the wrapping paper wouldn't work. I could just make a heart shaped-one. I'm getting more excited than my daughter! Lol

That's me when I get into full on planning mode. I went so over the top with a Star Wars party for my son once that 2 years later people are still talking. His birthday is in Nov. I started planning in May. It builds the anticipation for me. It drives my husband crazy :lmao:

My husband too! Lol I'm working on the food at the moment, and there's going to be so many pink and purple zebra treats if I don't stop looking at Pinterest! Lol

I just saw that Amazon has One Direction Duck Tape that will ship in 3-4 weeks. $12.xx a roll. Expensive if you ask me, and I don't know what I would do with it.... I'll probably get it though lol

Bumping... I could use more ideas! :)

I found some zebra and hot pink duck tape on clearance, so I have those. Lots of duck tape--- any other cool ideas to use it?

I don't have a decorating tip with the duct tape but I do have a craft possibility. Last year I had my younger daughters Daisy troop cover the fronts and backs of composition notebooks with Duct tape to make "field journals" for our nature hikes. some of the girls needed help some didn't. We didn't do exact measurements we just made sure that there was a little wrapped onto the inside cover and then used more duct tape to create a border or frame on the inside. Then we glued the girls pictures inside the "frame" so we would know whose was whose. For my daughters party, since the girls are older, we are making some bracelets with the One Direction tape ( that I found thanks to you :)) and the zebra duct tape. If you Google duct tape crafts I bet you will come up with something age appropriate.

Or, if you haven't already bought cups that work with the theme you could buy some of the smaller plastic or paper cups in an appropriate color and wrap a band of the duct tape around each cup, for the kids at least. the kids always get the themed stuff at my parties since it's so expensive and I buy coordinating colored stuff at the Dollar Tree or Wal Mart for the grown ups, lol

Thanks for the ideas! Even if I don't have them make the crafts at the party, I could make them as part of the favors.

I do the exact same thing for the theme and coordinating items! I bought the theme ones already, but need to make a trip to get the coordinating hot pink! Too funny! I found a good deal on pink and purple plastic ware at Dollar Tree as part of their Easter stuff-- 48 piece set!
