The only thing I used to do was chuck up the axles (nails) in my dad's dremmel and give them a light sanding to remove any burrs. I did the same with the wheels to ensure they were actually round. Darn, I never thought to lightly cup the wheel so you had less surface area (and friction) where it contacted the track. Wow, live and learn. I remember my car was simply a huge wedge, and I finished it by wipeing it with a coat of stain. No fancy-pants paint for me! I think I actually won two heats, before taking my place among the "also-rans." When I was in Lowes last week, I saw Dremmel had a huge display and a national contest for who would make the neatest pinewood derby-type car. Uh sure, your seven year old carved that scale formula-one replica. Uh-huh, yep, I believe you!
