I am a new member of the Pinecone research group and have been sent an email to join a study. I completed the study but am now wondering what in the world to do. Do I receive something in them ail now? How do they pay their participants? Also, something was mentioned about samples, would these be sent along with the pay? Once I hit that "finish" button, I feel at a loss! any of you that have been doing this, could you help out a newbie?

Thanks!

Yes, you will get a check in the mail from them. I've been nicely surprised with how quickly they send it out; I usually have it within a week. They did send out an e-mail a while ago that indicated future checks wouldn't be quite as fast because of a system change, but the last one I did came quickly too.

If they send you a sample, the check arrives at the same time; can't remember if it was in the box w/ the sample or in a separate envelope though. It's been a while for me to do a sample.

Usually within a few weeks, you should get a check in the mail for $5 for completing the survey. :thumbsup2 I have done many surveys with them, but I've never received any products to try out. I imagine if you do get some, they would not come with the check, but would be sent seperately.

You should be getting your check in the mail very soon. Sometimes I even get the check before I complete the survey. And while it does ask me if I am willing to recieve samples, I always say yes but have never gotten one. So I don't know how often they send these.

Well this is great news! they did ask if I'd be willing to use a sample if they sent one, but I guess that does not mean they will.

How often do we get to do surveys? And are they always paid out at 5.00?

Like others have mentioned, they have a pretty quick turnaround with checks. Getting the trials are nice surprises - I've only had one, although they ask at the end of every survey, so you never really know when you'll get one. They must figure out at the end of the surveys what all demographics they have and distribute that way.

I always check "yes" about willingness to test samples but have only been sent products twice. The first time was about two years ago but the product arrived a day or two before I was headed off to WDW and I did not have time to test it but was told to keep the products.

A few weeks ago, though, I received a package sent overnight with something to test. I did a follow-up survey on the product and then received the check for testing the product a few days later in the mail. (My check did not come in the package with the product to test.) I have found Pinecone to be very, very good about sending out checks :)

You never have to do anything unless you receive an email from them (with instructions) or a sample in the mail (with instructions).

They will occasionally email you with a "Household Questions" survey. This is different than a study. You won't receive a check for these surveys, but they are VERY short (normally under 5 minutes and sometimes just 1-2 questions). DO THESE SURVEYS!!! They help set your demographics and they also show you are serious about being on the panel. The more you do, the more they will send you.

When you receive an email about a study you know you've earned a $5 check. The check will arrive whether or not you complete the study. Sometimes the checks arrive before you even fill out the study. Don't skip the study just because you were paid for it anyway...if you do that too many times they will drop you. The studies can take as little as 30 seconds if you don't fit the demographics. They can take as long as 10 minutes if you fit the demographics. If you receive a question at the end of the study asking if you'd be willing to accept a sample, you will get the sample about 50% to 75% of the time, but not every time. If you are not asked if you would be willing to accept a sample, you will most likely not be getting one.

Samples normally arrive within a week of completing a survey. They are almost always full-size samples and sometimes you will receive several items at once. Sometimes they have retail labels on them. Other times they are in plain packaging.

Within a few days of when you receive the sample you'll get another $5 check in the mail. This check is your compensation for the follow-up study. The follow-up study will ask you how you liked the product. It normally takes about 5-10 minutes to complete.

Approximately 25% of the time you'll receive a pre-paid mailer to return the packaging to Pinecone (keep in mind Pinecone is mostly unreleased products, so the manufacturer's want their ideas protected). If you are asked to return packaging, you'll receive a third $5 check as a thank you for the return.

I've been with Pinecone for 3 years now. I've had countless studies and I've probably received more than 25 sample products. It's a lot of fun and especially cool to sometimes see the products actually get released on the market a few months after the study. I've received samples of items with values ranging upwards of $25, but most of the samples tend to be food items, personal care items, or cleaning products.

The craziest test product I ever received - a full-size container of personal lubricant :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: They actually made me "sign" (click a button) agreeing to accept an "adult" product. :rotfl2:

I just read the two comments that were posted while I was typing. You commented that you always agree to receive samples, but don't always get them. I seem to get the samples more often than I don't.

Perhaps it's demographics and they have fewer panelists where I live?

Another thought is that maybe they send out the samples to the people who complete the studies the fastest? They give you a few weeks to do the studies, but I tend to complete them as soon as I get the email. Maybe if you do the studies right away you'll have better luck with getting samples. Worth a shot anyway.

WOW! this is better than I thought it would be.....a potential of up to 15.00 per item! And I'm just happy get the little freebies I sign up for from the freebie thread! this really makes my day! I think I will put my little "bonus" checks in my change jar after cashing them for some fun spending money! YAY!!!!

How often do the emails come inviting you to take the surveys?

You never really know. I get Household Questions surveys (no $5 checks) about once a month. Some months I might get 2 studies, but other months I might not get any.

This isn't the type thing you can count on as income. It's just something to do for fun and when they come, they come...when they don't, they don't.

I went to their website and it said that they didnt take referrals blah blah and that they had banners on sites where you could join. Does anyone know a site that has a banner so those interested can sign up?

Thanks!

You can't post a direct link. It becomes disabled. Here's a non-direct link that works. Once you click on this link, look to the far right of the page and click on "Pinecone Signup Link 1"

http://www.internetpaidsurveys.com/

EDIT: THIS LINK WAS WORKING WHEN I FOUND IT YESTERDAY. IT SEEMS TO BE DEAD NOW, BUT I'LL LEAVE IT UP JUST IN CASE IT COMES BACK.

FYI - All I did was google "Pinecone Research" to find the banner. People post links in forums all the time and they pop up in google searches. If you google it every day you should find a working link pretty quickly.

Pinecone is great about paying and mailing the checks out quickly! I always select yes please send them to me but I have only rec'd a couple of samples. Nothing that I had to send back to them.

When I first joined about a year or so ago I got about 4 surveys a month now though I'm down to 2. It's a great way to earn extra money, all online survey companies are.

Oh, I certainly wasn't hoping for this to be a source of income, or anything reliable, just curious as to how often surveys are available....thanks for all the help everyone...I look forward to my first check coming and adding to my fun money!

I just found this tip doing a google search. The banners on these pages change every time you hit refresh, so if you have free time to keep hitting refresh maybe you'll get lucky .

Thru May 17 the banners will randomly be appearing in the upper right on these pages:

All pages in these sections:
New Home
Health and Nutrition
Free Stuff
Automotive
Travel

And these pages
http://www.volition.com/food.html
http://www.volition.com/coupons.html
http://www.volition.com/grocery.html
http://www.volition.com/outlets.html

Not in the forums, nor the front page.

Question for the longtime Pinecone folks, do you get an annual 1099 or some kind of tax statement from Pinecone for the money you have earned?

Earnings are about $150/year if you're lucky...probably less. No, there's no 1099, nor do I think the IRS would ever know or care about this money.

I was never asked for my social security number....they would need that to turn earnings into the IRS.
