As Jana and I are doing our best to work our way through the Entertainment books restaurant offerings I thought I'd continue with reviews of the places we go to eat.
This is probably not somewhere that many people would consider to go ( me included) because it isn't well advertised and unless you are staying at the Crowne Plaza resort I'd be suprised if you'd consider it. However, having visited here I can happily recommend this as a very nice little restaurant with excellent food, service and ambiance. Located on the Southernmost part of I-Drive ( past SeaWorld) at 1200 International Drive. As you pull into the Crowne Plaza Resort the reception and restaurant are immediately on the right. At a busy time of year this might be worth a call to see if you can snag a table when everywhere else is busy, or if you'd like a quiet/intimate evening.
This is a small restaurant, I'd guess about 15-20 tables, although they do have an outside deck with tables out there. Jana and I were seated in a little porch area which only had about 6 tables.
The decor is very "Key West" with pastal colours, the music level was perfect, loud enough to cover the conversations on other tables, soft enough that we didn't have to raise our voices to hear each other. Service was excellent , the Wine list while limited had a decent selection and was good value the food was VERY good. We shared a "florida fondue" which was a cheesy fondue served in a scooped out breadbowl as a started, Jana had one type of steak ( I think a filet) and I had another ( I think Ribeye) both were excellently cooked and very tender and tasty , choice of veggies and potatoes. Appetisers were in the $5-10 range, entrees were $12 (rasta pasta)-$ 30 range . I think the steaks were $23+25 respectively.
IT wasn't very busy when we went, I'd guess about half the tables were occupied, but as it is a fairly small place I'd think it could get filled up pretty easily. They have a bar next to the restaurant if you had to wait, but I'd suggest calling ahead and booking on the night if anyone is thinking of trying it. It's a place I'd happily revisit, even if I was paying full price.
Our bill for two ( shared starter, entree each, a cocktail each and one bottle of wine) came to $74. If we'd paid full price it would have been just under $100. One word of warning, the service charge is automatically added to the bill, and they do ( which annoys me no end) leave a gap on the credit card for you to add any extra tip you think is justified, but don't make it as obvious as it should be ( pet peeve here, you may have noticed LOL
)
I hope people find these reviews interesting and informative, I'm happy to continue to write them if people find them useful. My DDs are out on vacation next week so we'll probably be visiting a number of different places.
