Pine Sol changed it's scent :(

Pine Sol smells like campground toilets ( and not in a good way!)

Bought it once, never again!

Mr Clean is the guy for me ( one tiny glug)

OMG, you're right! We camp a lot and I think every bathhouse we've been to reeked of Pine Sol.

I also hate the smell of pine sol. It makes me think it's just a cover up smell for dirty bathrooms. I love the cleaner smell of some of the 'bleachy' products. And we also use diluted Odor Ban for smelly things.

I hated the last bottle of Pine Sol I'd purchased and researched the "new" formula -- apparently, pine oil's gotten too expensive, so they changed the formula.

They've supposedly made the old formula Pine Sol available via Internet : Pinesoloriginalpine.com. I haven't tried it, yet. Pine Sol's Facebook page includes a lot of others who are ticked about the scent.

Pine Sol is the only product I never searched for a generic for.

I finally tried a new bottle. (I had old bottles stored up from a sale.) I thought when you said that pine oil was too expensive, that they just lowered the scent and it's not as strong anymore.

Nope, they ADDED some floral scents to the pine. YUCK!!! I can't stand this new scent either. Time to try a new cleaner after this bottle is gone. Too bad, Pine Sol was one of my favorite cleaners. :(

Maybe, when they see their sales have gone down, they will go back to the original scent? :(

I just got a bottle....and yuck! It stinks.....worse that what I am cleaning.
Not sure I can even use it.

Wal Mart has Great Value 8.7% pine oil disinfectant cleaner that smells just like the old Pine Sol. It's what we use for mopping.

Good, maybe I can actually breath when my family uses Pine Sol to clean now. The old stuff would set off an allergic reaction within minutes.

I cant imagine this being upsetting:confused3:lmao:

I use unscented floor cleaners in my Hoover floorMax

I only used Pine Sol when my outside garbage cans get super stinky:confused3

::yes:: I thought it was just me! The place used to smell GOOD after cleaning. Now it smells stale and weird. :crazy2:

The smell is still strong. Just not a GOOD smell. :sad2:

Thanks! No Walmart around here. But, I'm traveling this weekend to where I know there are a couple Walmarts. So I can stock up. :thumbsup2

There are other brands that are BETTER than Pine Sol. Big Lots has SUN PINE with 8.7% pine that smells MUCH BETTER than Pine Sol. It's about a buck a bottle. Albertson's sometimes carries their own brand which is the same as SUN PINE but costs more than Big Lots.

Home Depot and lots of other stores have PINALEN. It's about 3% pine, has more alcohol in it than Sun Pine and is a limited spectrum disinfectant. It is a good cleaner, too. Home Depot also carries ZEP Pine Cleaner. I've never used it but I liked other ZEP products.

WalMart has their own brand of pine cleaner. They have different companies making it for them. The best I've had is WalMart Pine Cleaner made by USN. You can see their mark at the bottom of the bottle.

Anyway, you don't have to put up with stinky pine cleaner, better products are out there.:wave2:

I love how this thread has been brought back to life twice now, haha.

I actually really love the new scent, it reminds me of a nice smelling guy I used to know. ;)

When Pine Sol changed its scent we emailed them and then we found Great Value Pine Oil Cleaner (smelled just like pine sol). We were enjoying it and now Walmart has taken it off its shelf completely in favor of Fabuloso (product of Mexico). We are now looking for another pine cleaner that has the familiar pine scent (not the new crap pine sol). Oh we emailed the Pine Sol folks and they told us that we could buy their product online, we told them no and to bring back the old formula. Guess their bottom line is more important than customer satisfaction. This also seems like the socialism that we are moving to against our will..... they make the decision and we sit down and say thank you may I have another. We haven't bought pine sol since. Hope someone finds something and relays the message.

Time to let our dollars do the talking...

This makes me happy, I may try it now. A friend of mine used Pinesol and I thought it smelled like pee, it grossed me out

Welcome to the DIS!! And for what it's worth....I really disliked it when Tide changed their fragrance. :( Never liked Pine Sol to begin with.

I really like the purple Fabuloso. That stuff works great and leaves a good scent.
