Pin Trading

I have one from EPCOT that's a Mickey head outline filled with the American flag. They had one for every country in World Showcase.

Do you know of any space-related pins currently available at the parks? I'm going to Florida next week to see the shuttle launch, so I thought a space pin would be a good souvenir.

I love pin trading, although I mainly just collect them. However, I haven't got any new pins in a while. I have about 1,000 different pins in books and briefcases. They are just hanging out in my room now, as I'm not really into it as much as I was in the past. But when I go to WDW I will get a pin or two. It's a great hobby.

I'm sure there must be some... I can't think of any in particular right now, but your best bet would probably be near Mission: Space.

i'd check the mission space gift shop and either the space mountain gift shop or any gift shop in tomorrowland for that matter.

Some questions..

1. Does anyone here wear those pin vests/hats/backpacks/ in the parks? They seem very heavy!

2. How do people have collections of 1000 pins when they cost between 3-10 dollars?
Thats a lot of money on a hobby!

The same way people have multiple 300 dollar gaming systems and dozens of 20 dollar video games, or full sets of professional-grade scuba gear and underwater camera equipment. An interest becomes an obsession when you're willing to spend money on it, regardless of cost.

Thanks! I'll probably buy a lot of stuff in the Mission: Space gift shop, anyway. (If I even have any money left after the Kennedy Space Center)

Ebay pin lots.

I am a hugeee pin trader! I have every cast lanyard pin just about, im only missing a few. Then we collect and pins that we think are cool. I have two pins that are super special to me.
1) I was given a pin by a cast member which they can be fired for giving out. Its a pin from working on Thanksgiving day, it was the last one given out to the cast members ever so its worth a ton! It was put in my bag after I had a portrait done of the haunted Mansion since I had been asking him about the pin. It was a huge deal!

2) I was on a disney cruise with Don Williams, the very last animator for disney still alive. I went to all of his drawing sessions and I am an absolute huge fan! I was talking to an elder man and woman about him and they said they were good friends with him. I was in shock! Well the next day the lady came up to me and said they had talked to him about what a sweet girl I was and she handed me a pin that he wanted me to have. It was a drawing of all the first members on the side of the ship. LE. only 100 were made. I have one of them!
I love both of the pins!

I've been collecting pins since 2000, so over 10 years now. If I see a lot of pins that I like and can't decide on which ones to get I usually end up getting all of them if I can afford them. If not, I'll decide on a few or just one. Every time I go to WDW I always make sure I have some money on the side for pins. :)

I absolutely love to pin trade. My mom keeps telling me to buy a pin I don't want so that I can trade it, but I still buy a pin as a souvenir every now and then.

I have been collecting since around 2000 as well. I have one from when they did personalized pins.
It has my name on it on a monorail!

My collection is mainly Pirates but my "rare search" are any Alice in Wonderland [animated] related!

My ultimate search is a perry the platypus pin.

I've only been collecting for a couple years, and I don't really look for rare pins.

I don't think Phineas and Ferb pins have come out yet, but now I'll definitely be on the lookout for some when I go to Disney in July

u can tell if its fake if it doesn't have the disney logo on it the the copyrite syble. or if it doesn't have the little mickey mouse head

I got one! I found a pin with the Mission: SPACE logo and a sliding shuttle in the M:S gift shop and bought it!

(Should I do a trip report if I only was at WDW for one day?)

I really wanna try pin trading, it looks sooo fun! It would be cool to get some rare ones :thumbsup2 how do i find out which ones are "rare" and stuff?

thanks; also if i order off of ebay, is it easy to tell if i've been sent fakes?
yes, they will be more lightweight, and the mickey print on the back will have a border around the edges. check out pintalk on the seeing double thread, it should give you a notion on what to looks for. as for when you're buyiing them, if the price is too good to be true, they're fake. and if the sellers has loads of pin lots or selling very many rare pins at once, it's also a red flag.
