Pin Trading

One of the things we are looking forward to on our trip is all of the pin trading people are doing there. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on the best places to buy pins, where the most pin traders are, ect. If you know anything about anything, please respond!inkbounc

It all depends on whether you are talking about trading with other guests or cast members. You will see a lot of cast members wearing lanyards. You can approach them - ask to see their lanyard. They will trade with you as long as the pin you are trading is not currently on their lanyard (however they will usually give small kids a break and still take the duplicate pin).

Trading with guests is a bit trickier. Feel free to stop by the Contemporary on Friday nights or the Polynesian on Saturday nights to see trading in action. These meets start at 7:00pm. There are also pin meets in the Magic Kingdom on Tuesdays (I believe at 1:00pm when Scoop Sanderson does a whole program on pin trading). Also a meet at Pin Central in Epcot on Fridays. I think that one starts at 1:00pm too.

Also you may want to venture to cheappins.com. If nothing else you can get an idea of the differences between what is acceptable at DL/DCA vs WDW. They are different, just as pin trading rules are different at DLP and TDL.
Your local stores and theatres may also have $2 Variety pins that are tradable at WDW.
And there are bargains to be had on the internet auctions. Just be patient and cautious.
Finally, you can order rack pins directly from the parks. They will not sell you Limited Editions. And it is best to know what pins you want before you call. They charge a stiff shipping fee, but more than likely you won't be charged sales tax. And the orders under $100 have the same amount for shipping. So best to order more than one to get your money's worth from the shipping charge.
