Ok - I have gone WAY overboard in buying pins on ebay and I am wondering as a new trader how many we will really need. Is 20 - 30 each enough (3 of us will be trading - I don't see DH doing the trading thing  ) or is it too many? We will be in the parks for 4 days plus one MVMCP. I will have to carry the kids pins so mom will be carrying each days supply of pins (I'm used to being the pack mule but I'm definately not carrying aroung 50+ pins a day :sad2:

Thanks in advance for any advice :flower:

I think a lot depends on how much trading you intend to do. If your kids are going to trade a pin with a CM and then never trade the new pin, then 20-30 may not be enough. Remember that you don't need to carry all your pins all the time. I think we bring around 50 tradeable pins per person for a stay. For the Pin Celebration we should have brought 100 per person...

I think it depends on how much you get into pin trading - my DD4 LOVED it and she traded 20 pins over the course of our trip

I would suggest you take 10 pins you want to trade each day!

We do currently have a supply of 50+ for each person (I'm not telling how many have been already put aside as keepers or the ones I resold on ebay  ) I hate to even think of what I have spent on these already!

Thanks for the advice. We will probably take around 150 to make sure that we have enough!

The pitfall for us was DS WHIPPED through the pins we brought with us to start trading. All the ones he got in exchange were ones he wanted to keep, so we put locking backs on them to keep them from getting lost. Then he started buying pins he wanted to keep, some of which are still on the cards 2 weeks after the trip. Then he decided the lanyard was heavy and made his neck itch so he didn't wear it after the second day.

There was very little "trading" in our pin trading! :rotfl:

Good luck and have fun!

I use to take at least a few hundred with me on a week long vacation.
Some days I would be lucky to trade a dozen. Some days I went through 80.
And I just CM trade.
The heavy trading was checking a lot of lanyards though.
Now that I live nearby, I check maybe an 1/8 of lanyards I use to. :confused3
I suppose it is because I can buy so many pins through the year. And I am more of a collector than a trader.

We bought a small (maybe 5 x 7 ) Tink trading bag .it can hold about 50 pins and it zips so you don't have to worry about losing them .It has a neck strap but doesn't seem as heavy and clangy as the lanyards.WE just did about 30 trades in 2 full days With 1pin only SSR tades and ! pin she has to trade every 2 hrs. (my rules )to entice the trading part.
