Pin trading Etiquette

Just want to vent

I'm not mentioning any names but want an input ....

I had posted that I had two extra LE 500 pins for trade. Got a response.. Person was going to the DLC and wanted both pins.. I told them that I would put the two aside...

In the mean time I was able to obtain another 4 LE 500 pins.. I got one trade and it went smoothly.. Very nice people...

Never heard from them first ... So I e-mail them and just got a response back that they had traded for the pins at the cruise.. I was kinda disapointed..

1) I held the 2 pins.. got some offers but refuse due to a pending
trade.

2) If I didn't e-mail would they have gotten back to me.


3) I was happy to finally trade for some DLC pins.

4) Who should I trust.

5) I know When I say I will trade I hold the pin and many times
trade for a pin I really don't want but I know the person wants
it.

Sorry to say that I find it very rare to make it worthwhile to hold pins for a pending trade.
There are a few traders I would or have held pins for, and don't mind doing so. Even if they didn't go through I wouldn't be upset.
But as a general rule of thumb I don't hold pins only because it rarely goes through with people I don't know and don't/haven't traded with.

Unfortunatley, I have to say, "ditto" to Barbara's comment.

I will do it for someone I know really well, traded with often, and has always followed through. But the couple of times I have varied from this rule, the person returned from <i>where ever</i>, and no longer wanted my trader, or had the pin I wanted for it.

For myself, I don't think I have ever asked anyone to hold a trader for me. (If I have, please forgive me. )

Cathy, I am sorry to read you have had problems with pin traders. It is ashame since you & your husband have gone out of your way to help other pin traders (more than once!). I speak from experience ! Thank you for all you have done for me & for many others.

I have gotten rather picky about with whom I trade. Earlier this year another pin trader & I did hold pins for each other for several months until our WDW trip last month. We knew we would meet face-to-face, so we traded in person. This person & I have traded many times over the last year & a half or so & have spoken on the phone many times. This was definitely an exception for me ( & I think for her, too).

I keep a card file near the computer with information about pin trades - both those that were successful & those that were not. Several people on this bb have come through when I have wanted/needed specific pins, & for those traders, I am very greatful - thank you.
