Would you consider the new Patriotic pins to be considered
LE's worthy of good LE trades?
Or would it be a rack?

For instance, the Mickey/star pin retails @ $4.00
So I don't think it would be fair to ask for an LE
that retails @ $12.50 for trade.

Am I alone here?
Kathy

Everyone has their own opinion - there are quite a few people who quote ebay prices and go by those values alone. There are others who go by original retail value. And then there are those that simply say these are all just pieces of metal whose values are based on the memories and friendships attached to them. It really depends on the people involved in the trade. For example...I collect political Disney pins which would include the ever-elusive Mickey for President pin. I've had several opportunities to trade for that pin, but each time the demands were too steep. I refuse to trade away an arm and a leg for a pin simply because its ebay value is high. I'd rather keep looking. Now TDS has pins including one that is very similar to the Mickey for Prez...unfortunately my TDS has not yet received them. If they never do, then I would probably be willing to trade a $12.50 LE for the $4 TDS pin...but that's not trading an arm and a leg, IMHO.

Of course, not everyone agrees with my madness - so I'm afraid you still don't have an answer to your question :D

It just all depends on the wants and desires of the two people involved in the trade.

Just depends on who wants the pin and what they want to trade.
And just because a pin is an LE, doesn't make it desirable, or mean that the person paid full retail. I have bought many LE's on Ebay for below cost. So I wouldn't think a lot about trading them for another pin I wanted that was valued at a few dollars less.
I sometimes try to use Ebay merely as a guideline on value. Some people get insulted by offers, because of Ebay closed auction prices. But I have seen people who, just in my opinion, over paid or over traded for a pin and want that value in return.
We all know how auction prices are. It is common for the same pin to be bought by two different people at very different prices.

Kathy, it is a personal choice/a personal opinion that comes down to if it feels good or right to you & the other person, then go for it. I've gotten to the point recently where I trade mostly with the nice people on this board (& of course, my Saturday a.m. pin friends!). I have gotten "to know" these people, have traded more than once with many of them, & feel comfortable with the trade. Most of the trades I've been part of trade LE for LE OR rack for rack OR LE for two racks. Of course, it depends on what the rack or LE pin is.

Hi Kathy. A pin is only worth what it worth to you. I have traded both ways. Ask the other person if he or she is good with the trade and you can't go wrong. When anyone tells me what it is going for on Ebay it turns me off. If I like the pin or need it for a set I will trade what ever it takes to get it. (This is just my opinion). Kris

Just an interesting observation...on another thread on this board someone asked what would be necessary to trade for the #1 Disney Store One Man's Dream pin (a $4 pin). All of the answers were for HTF or LE pins whose original retail prices were more than $4.
