PIN Offer

I've got 3 different emails/accounts with them and didn't get a single offer :sad2: If I called and asked about it is it something they would offer or do I have to wait for it to come out to everyone?

If you called and just asked for the offer I highly doubt they would honor it. I have heard you can call and ask if there is a PIN code associated with your name. When I called to apply it to my reservation they asked me for my PIN number (about 16 digits long) and then had me verify all my info (name, address, email, etc) for my PIN and then had me verify all my hotel reservation stuff as well.

If I didn't have the PIN code I doubt I would've gotten very far. But it couldn't hurt to call and see if a code is linked to your account.

I do think this offer will be released to the public, as I mentioned in a PP about it saying because my email said: (sorry about all caps, I cut and paste from my email)

"SINCE YOU'VE VISITED BEFORE, WE'RE THRILLED TO GIVE YOU THE FIRST SPIN AT THIS OFFER! "

I bet it will be out soon to everyone!

I got the August/September PIN as well, so I was hoping to get a lower rate for our (already booked) August trip, but it turns out there is zero availability on our dates.

To clarify, my understanding is that if you already have a reservation and find a lower rate, you can make a new reservation with the PIN code (or special offer, or whatever) and cancel the old one; however, if there is no availability, the only thing you can do is cancel your existing reservation first and then pray that you get your room back when booking with the PIN code before someone else snags it. Not worth the risk for me! :)

I'm not convinced that saving an offer has anything to do with it - this one was clearly sent out and targeted to past guests. And the fact that they sent it to people who are already holding reservations at higher rates tells me that there wasn't any information from their reservations system with regard to this offer.

To clarify about my experience (read my PP for details) we had a reservation and called with my PIN code and was able to apply it directly to my current reservation. My reservation number did not change :)

The agent I spoke to did say that if I canceled and rebooked then my room options could be greater, that the rms she had available if I simply applied the code were limited.

Everything else you said I totally agree with though (their target audience and marketing issues).

I think we are saying the same thing. You cannot apply it to a reservation for a room type that is no longer available - and the only way to make your room type available is to cancel your reservation. At that point you are risking losing it altogether. The CM you spoke with found a loophole for you, since they apparently did have handicap rooms available - that is a different room category (in the sense that they have a separate inventory for them). I am surprised they would take a handicap room out of their inventory for someone who doesn't need it, though. I'm guessing this is not standard procedure.

I am really surprized they would remove a handicap room from inventory like that..they are allocated only so many for the pins, discounts, etc and suites there is no discounting..I will count my lucky stars that I got 30% off, but trust me, I earned it.

Yeah I'm not sure, she went through it all so fast and it seemed pretty easy. She said they just note in their reservation system that we don't actually need the HA room so we would just get bumped of someone does need it, or when we check in (esp if early) then we reiterate to them we don't need it and they will put us in a regular room if available.

Sorry for any confusion :) so hard to figure out CM procedures, etc when you will always get a dif answer when calling!!

I feel lucky too believe me!!! I posted above about their comment about taking the room out of inventory :)

Hope you are feeling better Jack!!

I don't believe this pin offer has anything to do with saved dates as I received this pin for up to 09/29 and our saved dates are in October. Must be a different database for guests that have stayed before. Nice to receive a pin but too bad I can't use it :(

I just got one too. Like an hour and a half ago. I signed up on MyDisneyland on Sunday using a new email to see if I could get one.

Unfortunately it looks like mine is for Nov and I'm going in Sept. Seriously? The week after Labor Day is less open for discounts than the holiday season? I still need to play with the rates to see if it would even be a deal, but those limited dates don't work for me.

WHAT?! I NEED one for November!

After getting one via email a couple of days ago under my husband's name, we received a PIN in the mail attached to my 1-year-old's name.

Gee, I hope she takes us if she decides to go.

I know! You'd think to entice people they'd offer a deal near your preferred travel dates, since they have that info.

Has anyone received a deal for one set of dates and called to use it for different dates? Especially when others are getting discounts for the dates you want? Can't hurt to call and beg I guess.

I also signed DH up for an account and put in August dates hoping that triggers a Sept discount. Or maybe that will be a Carsland discount that goes public.

I put in a 'save offer' for the September dates we're going about a month ago. Got my first PIN in the mail today for the timeframe I need! pixiedust: Woooo hooo!! Now we're going to split out trip between PVI and DLH!! :cool1::cool1:

Well, September is exactly when I need one, but even though I'm inundated daily with Disney junk mail, and have made high-dollar Disney trips the past two years AND saved plenty of Disneyland trips for those dates, I got nada.

Seriously, it's easier to get an Olympic medal (trust me) than get a Disney "pin code." :rotfl2:

So here's hoping you are reading the tea leaves correctly and this becomes a general public offer.

I think they are careful about this. I know in the past I have been a high dollar disneyland spender (we typically stay at one of the DLR properties when we go--which is about 3 times a year)-and from what I can tell they are not looking for us. They are looking for people who don't usually stay on property.

When I get pincodes, it is typically for Disney Cruises, which we don't take. So they already know I am a soft touch for the DLR hotels, but they want me for a Disney Cruise. This makes it frustrating for me, a loyal DLR goer. But basically they are trying to drum up business where there usually would be none.

I just plugged in jan 31 last week for the Grand and I got a pin code yesterday.Maybe the trick is to plug in dates that are beyond your holiday and then you will get one for the actual dates you want:rotfl2:

See that's where it seems so random:) the pin code email and flyer (they came a day apart for me) both state that its for repeat visitors (which we are).

However I get pincodes for DL each time they are released. But we haven't stayed off property since 2009. We have been at the Grand the last 3 trips. So who knows how they target! I've given up trying to figure it out:)

I make sure and do all the suggested ideas though a few months before our trips to DL (since pins are released so close to the travel dates and rarely for a long chunk of time). I order the DVD, do saved offers, etc. Who knows if it does anything though. Lol.

I never get DCL codes but we've gone on 3 cruises in 2 years and rebook onboard forbade discount so maybe they don't target repeat guests?

I do get WDW pins constantly though and we've only gone once, in 2010.

i got one in the mail earlier this week to my house in my mother-in-law's name. I guess they have her info that way from years ago when we were AP holders, we booked 2 rooms (ours/theirs) with one reservation using our addy. argh! can't use this since it's in her name, but we're going in august! CM on the phone said she'd need to be there with ID and PIN when checking in. doubtful, but why take the chance. man my in-laws seems to always get these offers to our house, but it's me spending all the $ at disney.

I think you're right. We got one via snail mail addressed to my husband. We've stayed onsite before and it was under his name. The online account we have (with a saved trip date of October) is under my name.

Ironically we just got back from DLR on the 13th, and received the PIN code offer for August and September. We won't even have the credit card paid off from the July visit by then... LOL
