My kids have really gotten into pin trading over the last few years and I always encouraged them to trade for the CM pins. There was a time when we would go for a week and only find one or two of these pins. On our recent visits, it wasn't unusual to find at least one (sometimes two or three) on just about every CM's lanyard we looked at. Just two weeks ago we had 44 Incredibles pins we were trading and we were able to exchange every one of them for a CM pin. Since they seem to be so widely available now, should we shift our focus to something else: a particular series, or character, etc?

I dont claim to be an expert but I think you can collect anything that is fun. There will always be some lanyard pins that are hard to find.

My kids were hot after the fastpasses. Once they got those, they were turned on to the Chip n' Dale dessert pins! Started out with a dole whip and before you know it, older DD had a zebra dome. They also got a tie-dyed cheesecake. After we got home, they discovered there was one more in the series, the Kitchen Sink from Beaches and Cream. It will be a race to see who gets it first. We're off to DLR next weekend and they are more anxious to pin trade than they are to ride rides :rotfl2:

Obviously, they should do whatever is fun for them.. For me, while it is cool to get a cast lanyard pin I would rather find all of them in a set rather than collect any cast lanyard pin. like the tiki's from MK, I love those and I only have 1- still on the hunt. And I am still trying to find all of the parking lot signs. I think I would leave it up to them, I never have traded b/c of pin value. A cast lanyard pin is only worth more if someone wants it, so if it is not a pin of interest to your child I would leave it for another guest. That's just me. There are plenty of Cast lanyard pins I do want and am keeping my eyes peeled for.
Also each member of my family has chosen 2 characters or themes that they want to collect so our family collection will have more variety.
We are just about having fun. who cares what pins are more valueable or highly sought after-chances are if it's a pin you like youre not going to trade it anyway.
I hope you and your kids have a lot of fun pin trading.
...t.

I'm interested in the answer to this, too! More importantly, I'm thrilled to hear that you unloaded your batch of Incredibles pins!!! We'll be doing the same thing very soon! I was worried that we'd be stuck with them!

I was really worried too and quite relieved to see we were trading them instead of the Cuties pins...they were on every CM lanyard we saw!

We saw Cuties everywhere too, but it looked like they are enough different designs that they should still be tradeable. We didn't buy any to trade, but DD traded for some, then re-traded them without any problems.
