How common is it to call Disney asking about PIN codes and they actually have one that you didn't know about?

I've not called yet, but just wanted to see what others have experienced.

I think it is pretty common. I've tried a few times, but didn't have a code. I told my friend to try for her trip in May. She did it a few times & the last one she ended up having a 40% off code that she didn't receive an email about. So it doesn't hurt to try. All they say is yes or no.

I actually called two days ago. I told the castmember I felt ridiculous for even asking and she said I shouldn't because it happens all day long. She did not find a code under my name or my husband's, but told me to call back another day and try again. I will say it's about 5 minutes of answering automated questions before you even get to a person to ask about a code!

Thanks for the responses. I guess I won't feel too loopy :dance3: calling them and asking about any PINs associated with my name or my wife's name.

Don't feel loopy about it at all! I have used PIN codes the last 2 trips (including the one I just booked today for December:), and I only found out about the PIN by asking when I called. I have received a couple other PIN codes through either email or snail mail that I could not use, so it seems to be hit or miss whether you actually get the information.

Well, I just got off the phone with Disney. Seems my wife and I both have the same PIN associated to our names...unfortunately, it's for October 10 - Dec 22, and room only. We aren't able to travel until next summer at the earliest (I just changed jobs and don't have enough vacation). Oh well...it wasn't much better price wise than going through AAA. The CM couldn't see the actual discount, but priced one room at ASMu and it was about $20/night off (I calculated a 16% savings over rack). Not bad, as every dollar counts, but not great.

I guess I'll keep watching for discounts and if we have to, we'll just sign back up for AAA and get their room or package discounts.

We would like to join the club... What number did you use?

I called Central Reservations @ 407-W-DISNEY (407-934-7639).

Had to go through a lot of voice prompts for last lame, first name, phone number, address (only street number), how many travelers, etc..

Just to get to a person. As a PP noted, you'll have about 5 minutes on the phone before getting ahold of them.

in order to join the club, what exactly is that ? do you have to be a owner at a resort ?

over the last couple of months.

Actually, the way I do it is by checking the boards, here to see if anyone is getting a new pincode. When info surfaces that a new code is around I call and voila it has worked two times in a row, now for us.

I made a decision yesterday to stay off site; so, I don't think Disney will get my resort business this year. I would have to get free dining for 3 adults for me to reconsider going back on site. I don't think there will be fall or winter free dining this year.

The off site resort (a good Disney neighbor, they are called) has shuttle service to the parks; so, it may take a little longer to get there, but I won't have to pay for parking, either. We get a good, hot breakfast and we are staying in a suite that's 830 square feet with a full kitchen and a separate living room and two BRs and 2 bathrooms for less cost than a moderate. Three nights a week there's an evening reception that includes wine and beer and snacks.

We have a tough situation where we want to travel with our dog and I dread the idea of boarding her over night anywhere. At Disney resorts I would have to kennel her overnight to the tune of $50 to $75 a night at Best Friends; it's the only place I would consider. My dog is not stranger friendly; so, it would be very stressful for her to be in this enviroment. I would be okay with day boarding (I've done it before), but the over night at a kennel really worries me. I had a bad experience with my last dog that way. So, it's going to take a lot for me to stay on Disney proper in the future.

With the discounts that are out there right now I wouldn't stay Disney even if the dog wasn't a consideration. I almost did a trip with my mom and I and hubby would stay home with the dog; so, we could do it. He's not a big Disney fan. We've been over 30X and he's tired of it. He'll be staying in the resort room with our dog and he'll be happy to get extra sleep and watch sports and read while we go to Disney. So, the larger suite helps us a lot more than a Disney discount.

We could not afford a deluxe at Disney. I was lucky enough to do it a few times when I was younger and when the deals were great to do it. Those days are over.

Good luck to all who need a pin code, but I strongly suggest looking for other options to compare and see what you get for your hard earned money.

On the topic of dogs...I hate boarding too. What I do is pay a young 20s woman (she was my daughter's student teacher) $20 a night to stay at the house. This way my dog is in his own environment - and she feeds the cats as well - and gets the mail, etc... it's extra money for her and it doesn't keep her from doing her regular job. I find it usually cheaper than friends pay for pet services or kennels and my animals aren't alone.

I called today to ask if I had a pin code attached to my name, and was told that it is against policy to tell me if I have a code. A few days ago, I called and the person that time told me thet I didnt have one...they at least told me something, even if it wasnt what I wanted to hear. We want to go 12/17 to 12/25, and stay at CS. Crossing my fingers that I can reduce the cost by $600, through some sort of promo. If I cant get the price down, I cant pull it off. How often do you think I should call and check. Also, I do not recall getting ANY emails or mail from Disney in several years. We went in 2006, maybe I dont go often enough.

what is a code and how do i get one?:confused3

Anything you need to really know about PIN codes is in the thread at the top of the board called "Everything You Need To Know About Discount Codes". It has a really good list of common questions and answers.
The basic info is that they are random discount codes ranging from free park hopper to 40% off resorts or more. No one really knows exactly how to get them as they seem to be randomly generated.

Against policy to tell you if you have a pin code? That's a new one! Keep trying back. Hopefully you will get something. It really doesn't matter how often you go.

Just make sure you've signed into the Disney website, order a vacation video, maps and save a vacation. None of those have worked for me but it has worked for other people.
