Pin Codes - Are they attached to the name, address or both?

I called to price out a couple of packages and while I was on the phone I asked for them to check to see if I had any pin codes. They only checked my name but said the pin codes are attached to the address so if anyone else in my family had one they would show up as well. Im just wondering if I should have asked them to look up my husbands name too or if they would really all come up with the address attached to my name. Thank you! :)

I was told the same thing from one CM, but what I've noticed is every CM will have their own variation. I've been calling at least twice a week and I have been asked for the names of other family members in my household so they can check under their name. I was also told by another CM that they can't check for pins at all, which I already knew was not true, so I called right back to talk to another. But, the general consensus from most of the CM's is that the pins are attached to the household (address) and if there is a pin, they will see it without looking for individual names. Best of luck, hope you get some pixie dust soon ;-)

I cancelled our early Dec. trip bc FD won't fall under our dates and we never get a pin. I was talking to DH yesterday about how frustrating it is to never get any pins and he goes, a while back something from Disney came in the mail and I put in your Disney scrapbook box :crazy2:

I was like, "what?!? and you didn't tell me?". He goes "well we get flyers for Disney stuff all the time and you always want to save them and you weren't home when I checked the mail so I just stuck it there and forgot to tell you" (we have never gotten a pin but always get random what's happening with Disney stuff like the most recent GF DVC flyer). So of course I run upstairs to my loft and get into my Disney box and what is it...the Disney FD pin but I look on the back and it is addressed to someone I have never even heard of. So sad. Disney hates me, lol. I am assuming they sent it to the wrong person. I will call today and see what's up with it but it doesn't have our name on it so I am not holding my breath.

I called to ask about a pin code for both my mom and myself, since we both receive Disney mailers on a regular basis. The cast member I talked to asked if we have the same mailing address and explained that they look up pin codes by mailing address. She told me that there was a pin code associated with our (shared) address, but didn't specify that it was for one person or the other. I was under the impression anyone at the associated address could use the code.

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

I received a pin code the other day, but it was in my uncle's name. Disney allowed me to use this pin and make the reservation since my uncle will be in our traveling party. I was always under the impression that only the person that could use the pin was the person the pin was sent to. I guess as long as the person is in the party anyone can make the reservation.

I just called again to see if I had a pin (still nothing!) and asked specifically about looking up my husband and kids also and what criteria they use for looking them up. She said that when they pull up my profile they will also see anyone else who is attached to me. Since I have previously linked all our accounts then everyone would come up for her.

The PIN system is typically messed up.

I've started to get PINs on my work email account after I made a room only reservation for my parents 1.5 yrs ago. When the FD pin came out, I tried to use it online. It was coming to my email address and addressed to my family name. But when I went online to use it, it had my parents address.

Called to see what I could do (technically I lived with them years ago and it has the same last name). They had two people listed on the PIN. My mother and my youngest son (***???). So these were the rules I was told who could use the PIN:

* Any adult living at that address
* My mother even if she lived at another address

My son could not book the room since he is underage.

After talking to a supervisor, they made an exception because it came in to my email address, we had the same last name, and my son was listed in the PIN. So we booked FD for Dec 22 to 28

OH, and after mentioning this issue to my mother, she turns around and says "Oh, we get those postcards all the time - but since I wasn't planning anything I just threw them away" ???

In 2010, we called to check and see if we had any pins. The CM found one for free dining in my father's name but attached to our home address. They allowed us to book our May 2010 trip with that free dining pin and told us that the name didn't matter but the address did. We also asked them if my parents wanted to use it to book trip with the pin, would they be able to use it. The CM said no because their address wasn't the one attached to that pin.

That time we never got an actual pin email but since then I have been getting nonstop pins to my email but always with my father's name. We haven't tried using any of them since we usually just go with regular general public free dining though.

Interesting discussion

My wife and I each receive different PIN offers at the same address. This has just started in the past year or so, no idea what we do different now.

So I just moved and have a PIN from my prior address that I brought with me (got it right before I moved and didn't have time to check it over). I can't use it right now BUT if I did want to use it, would I be able to since we have a different address now?

I receieved a pin that would work for my May trip but it was addressed to my boyfriend. I called to see if I could get the discount and was told even though I live at the same address and am the one who always pays for HIM to go to Disney with me :rotfl: I could not use the pin because he was not traveling with me on this particular trip. Ridiculous!

I can tell you without any doubt, and for extreme certainty..........I DON'T GET PIN CODES NO MATTER WHAT I DO!!!!!!!

It's plain crazy. I have made over 50 trips to Disney World, spend a small fortune at the Disney Store and online, and have TWO Disney Visa cards, yet Disney does not see fit to include my family in their special offers.

Based on this and missing out on the current FD offer for the Fall, we are booking Room Only, not paying for the Dining Plan, buying our park tickets from an outside discounted source, and eating outside and saving money. I may even skip buying any souvenirs this trip.

I'm protesting. If it wasn't for the advantages of staying on property, I would not pay them for a room either and stay outside.

There, take that Disney!!!

I called to book and didn't know I had a pin.

Then the next time I called, I was told I didn't have a pin. When I told them to look again because I know I have one, they told me that I have multiple accounts for some reason, and that one of them had a pin. I have no idea what they were talking about since I only have one account that I know of.
