Pin Code - Free Dining 9/28 - 10/11

can someone tell me where I can get on the mailing list for the pins? I'm going to be down there during those times and looking to save all I can

thanks!:lovestruc

Someone posted that their sister got this new free dining pin code for dates in October AND the third week of December? I don't see anymore post about the third week of December. Has anyone else see or heard of the December dates? That's when we are going and I would love for that to be true. I just went and requested a new planning DVD.

My mom was planning on going with us as we are going 9-27 to 10-5 (we got the FD BB last year). Their package with the MYW package discount was around 2400. That was for 2 adults and 1 child with 8 day park hopper and water parks plus dining. Although she had to change her ressie to start on the 28th she was able to add another adult to the package and even with the $50 charge to change the ressie, she is getting back 300! So for 7 nights at the pop, 8 day park hopper water parks and fun plus dining for 3a and 1c, her total was $1041. I am so excited for her!:cheer2:

Is your mom's new code basically what was offered with the bounceback or the offer for Free Dining in the spring? It sounds like it. I'm surprised they didn't just have a longer date range in the spring since this starts pretty much when the spring offer ends (if you start a weeks stay on the last first day of stay for the spring offer of Sept 20)

Ahhh, this secret is even more closely guarded than Johnny Depp's home phone number!

Seriously, no one knows exactly how you get picked to receive a pin/postcard. Some people have visited WDW for years and years and never received one....yet their neighbor who hasn't been in 10 years gets one every year. Some regulars got them last year but not this year. Some people who have APs but don't stay on site report they get them, others don't....some stay on site all the time and have gotten one once years ago. And so on, it's very very random with no discernable pattern and I've never read anyone who can say that if you sign up for this you will get one.

The best thing is to sign up for everything Disney to increase your chances.....order the vacation DVD which some have reported has a pin code with it (I've personally got a small drawer full of these DVDs and no pin code, lol).....get on the mailing lists for all the various Disney websites. It makes sense that the more places DIsney has your information, the better the chance that the computer will randomly select you.

One important thing to mention.....the pin code is only good for the person named on the postcard. Some people have had trouble and been turned down because the post card comes to their house but has Grandma's name on it because grandma is the one that paid for the last trip so the reservation was in her name....but if Grandma isn't going this time, you can't use the code, as Grandma must make the reservation AND be present at check in. It's non-transferrable and they seem to stick VERY close to this rule, even when they bend other rules. So....in my case, our first trip DH came along, but because I'd been on the DIS board lurking and learning, I knew to make the reservations in MY name (typically when we travel it's his name, because well, because he's the man and he does the checking in at the hotels, very traditional of us, lol, even if I am the one that is always planning/booking everything).....because he went once, he's not interested in returning whereas the kids and I could go every month and not tire of it. So I made sure his name isn't on anything, lol.....so if the lucky pin code comes I don't have to worry about him not coming along!
Of course I'm still waiting for that first pin code.

I got it too- today- it's a shame though... we are already going in Nov and I am not going to book a seperate trip for Oct too--- it's too LATE!!!!

The e-mail my husband got was from Disney Destinations. It's a different web address than waltdisneyworld.com, so I don't know if it makes a difference if you registered on one and not the other.

got the pin code this morning. i wasn't really considering going back to WDW this year, but a quickie visit to check out the halloween festivities may now be in order.

I'm not seeing that as much of a deal! $63 per person, based on a family of 4.....so that would be $252 per day for this family.

Even if you assume the WORST scenario for this....that is that the family of 4 is made up of everyone being over 10 years old, therefore an adult for dining purposes......that's $38 dining x 4 people or $152 a day for the dining....that means that the room cost is $100. THAT is no bargain for a value room. And if you assume that the family has even one of those kids under age 10, that would make the value room cost $128 a night. That's just barely a bargain room rate for a moderate, thats over rack rate for a value. Throw the second kid in as a dining child, and of course it's only gonna get worse.

Sounds to me like Disney is having a LOT of trouble filling their hotels during this month....perhaps the 4 swirling storms currently threatening their state is causing people to cancel??? :scared1:

Personally, I'd much rather go at a less hot, humid and stormy time and pay for my own dining plan......even at rack rate it would be equal the cost but much better in terms of weather! Throw in a AAA or other discount and it's all around better deal!

Try your calculations with park tickets. I believe these packages include tickets.

Sooo....Just to clarify...
I can go online, book the Oct-Dec package special, and then call and add my PIN from my email and we will get both discounts?
So for the price i was quoted using the Oct-Dec special I also get dining free? That would be too good to be true...but it sounds like some people are getting it...Anyone can confirm??:confused3

I also got the pin code, I was able to book 3 night 2Oct-5 Oct, for 2 Adults and 1 12yr old for $508, that includes one day base tickets for 3 that will be applied to Florida Resident Season tickets. The value of which is $239...therefore I am paying $259 for 3nights hotel and dinning. At $89 a night including dinning I am paying $25 more a night for dinning vs. the Florida Resident Room Rate I originally booked. The rack rate for the Package is $907 or $668 after you remove the 1 day tickets.

I think it is definitely a good deal because we had already planned on doing 3 sit down meals...I figure I will save roughly $80 a day with the package.

We received the pincode email today as well. Too bad we are going this time next year. I wish that it was for 2009. :sad1:

I called and was quoted a price of 1766.02 using the pin code for seven nights at CSR, seven days of tickets, and dining. Does that sound like a deal?

Not sure, I just stay at the value hotels. I called for a quote for two on the pin code package but the quote included insurance and park hoppers for the stay, total of 1060.54. My cell phone dropped the call before I could ask for no park hoppers and no trip insurance. :headache: but it still seems like a good deal.

Got this PIN this morning as well. I got really excited for a second, I was just checking the email before calling to book our 2009 trip, and saw this email. So sad that we won't be able to use it. :sad1:

I am 99% certain that they are not allowing people to have BOTH discounts. I believe the free dining PIN will save you whatever you would have paid on the dining plan PLUS I think it is also allowing you to book your room at VALUE season rack rates even if your dates fall in regular season. If you apply the Oct-Dec pkg discount and then call to apply the PIN, I would almost guarantee you will not get an additional credit for the entire DP cost. It would be equal to...the cost of the dining plan PLUS the savings from the difference in rack room rates from value to regular season LESS your initial savings from the Oct-Dec MYW pkg.

I got this pin today!! My first pin ever!!! :woohoo: I called to see what the price of the package would be. I love a good deal!! I have 24 hours to work my magic :wizard: and convience :worship: DH that we really need to go!!

For 5 nights at Pop Century standard room with 4 day base tickets for two adults and one child and the DDP with no travel insurance was $1107.88 (that is with tax)!!

Are you sure it wasn't $1,117.88? If so, it proves what I said in my last post. If you calculate 5 nights using value season dates (with all the other factors you listed being the same) on the WDW site, that number is exactly what you get.

100% sure that is was $1,107.88! I am dyslexic so I had the CM repeat it a few times and then I read it back to her 2 or 3 times.

So if i go and get the 1 day tickets can I apply them to a new annual pass (not FL resident?). So my pass would be $79.88 less since i'm 'applying' $79.88 from the unused 1 day ticket?

After all those checks and balances, you must be right! :goodvibes Odd that it's off exactly $10 from what I came up with on the WDW site. Oh, well...maybe my previous assumptions aren't correct after all.

Anyway, congrats on getting your first PIN (I'm still waiting for mine :sad2: ) and good luck convincing your hubby!
