:flower3: Okay after reading a ton of posts about who has and hasn't received this deal I really think that the common denominator is an online survey at a Disney site. There are many who have AP, DVC, and Disney Visa who didn't get the pin code offer so those can't be involved in Disney's choosing process. However several people who noted that they filled out a survey about DisneyLand specifically have received it and I am one of them. I filled out a survey early last week and got the postcard in the mail Thursday! Of course this is all conjecture, but I think if you really want to be getting these postcard/email pin code offers for DLR hotels then you need to do any Disney survey that comes your way online! I believe that they ask you to stay on the phone after you've finished your reservations call for a survey also... I'd do that as well if you really want to increase your odds! I think it makes sense that they would pull from those taking surveys, especially if the person surveyed hasn't been to the park in a while or never... they'd want your business... now!

Good luck and I really hope this helps someone! Disney is so expensive and yet such a worthwhile trip. I just hope everyone can find a way to afford to get there and stay where they feel comfortable to share some Magic with family and friends!

I filled out a survey yesterday - maybe I'll get something next week? Wishful thinking...

I did get a code a couple weeks ago for a WDW value stay. Not going to WDW in 08, so I can use it. Go figure.

I've filled out 4-5 surveys over the last 18 months and have all things Disney (Visa, AP, on-site stays even purchase tickets on the Disney website, belong to the Disney DVD and book clubs) and so far nothing. I'm hoping they just put the info out in batches to avoid overloading the reservation system.

What surveys did you fill out? Does Disneyland email you a survey or is it one anybody can do online? :confused3

Thanks for any clarification.

A CM will sometimes ask if you would like to participate in a survey right as you walk through the turnstyles but I've also been asked at other parts of the parks. I give them my email address and a week or two later, they send the link to the survey via email.

Edit - I took one for MHT and several general surveys about each of the parks.

thanks for the info!

I did a survey last time I went but maybe I didn't qualify for the postcard. But I'll be sure to keep answering those surveys. :thumbsup2

Nope, a survey isn't the key.

My dad got the offer and he has never in his life been on the internet. And he never did any surveys in the park.

My friend was approached last year in September outside of the California Adventure bathroom to do a survey. I was standing there too but they didn't want me! The CM got her info and someone from Disney called her several weeks later. She stayed on the phone for a while, answering their questions. I told her that I BET she will get a postcard with the discount! Also, when we went back in December, the same friend and I were BOTH approached by a man with a clipboard thing and he asked for our e-mail addresses which he input into his system. We were told we would receive an e-mail survey, but to my knowledge, neither of us ever did.

Why is is that the darn court system sends me a stupid jury duty summons without fail every couple of years because I somehow got on their master list (even though I have never been on a jury) but I can't get a blasted Disney discount card to save my life even though I have given them countless dollars over the years! If it isn't the AP, the DVC or the Visa holders, and it is not the survey takers, and if it is not the fact that you must be on a zillion mailing lists for Disney, then it has to be ALL random and numerical. It can't be all SoCal if someone in NoCal got one. It could be alphabetical, and since we don't know what the last names of everyone here are, that may be it. But I have a hunch it is all luck of the draw. No rhyme or reason.

I received the code today. FIrst time to get a pin code. We are going in February, so can't use it, but exciting to get, just the same.

I don't have a visa, AP, or anything like that, but I do remember filling something out saying that we were planning a trip in the near future. Oh, and I'm in Texas and haven't been to DL since 1983, as a teenager. But, it came in my DH's name and the last name starts with R. He has never been to California.

I've been looking through my spam/junk mail filters. Is the email from "Disney Destinations"? If so, I got a code back in June for a WDW stay. Of course, they want me to travel to FL in August early Sept to get a cheap rate on a hotel when the rest of the country is there for the free dining? Uh, I don't think so!

I'm not sure what the title of the survey was or anything, but I have never looked up anything about Disneyland. When I was looking up DL stuff on their website a survey popped up!

I've looked up WDW stuff a million times b/c I'm from FL and we go back to visit my family every year in early summer. I have tried to to everything to get on "the list" in hopes of helping our bottom line with regard to our WDW vacations in May, but nothing! Then out of the blue a pin code deal for Disneyland???? I really don't know if the survey was the key or if perhaps it is some sort of random alphabetical search they do on former guests or those registered online. I just thought it was really odd that I got the postcard several days after my first inquiry online into DL and after the survey where I put down that I'd never been to DL, but really wanted to go soon!

I wish I had the answer for everyone, b/c I know how frustrating it is to want a terrific vacation for your family only to realize that it may be out of reach becuase of the cost involved. We will have to drive from Phoenix(actually Gilbert, AZ) in order to afford a trip for Halloween. I know that doesn't seem to bad to some people and I hope it won't be, but I really dread the 6 hour trip in the middle of the night!!!

I really don't understand the methodology behind offering the deal to random folks instead of those who go consistently... they really deserve the break! I have spent lots with Disney over the years, but I'm sure there are many who've spent more. Perhaps they know which guests have stayed onsite and thus are more likely to stay on site again with a bit incentive? Perhaps they want to attract new guests who've bought tix to parks, but never stayed on site before? I really don't know, but if someone els wants to analyze it here is the info on my situation. I have always stayed on property at WDW, never got a deal, until recently purchased tix through Disney directly, never visited DL but recently inquired online about hotel costs and saved some itinieraries for hotel only as well as filling out survey as mentioned. I shop at the Disney stores and online. I don't have the Disney Visa, an AP, or a DVC membership. I've never stayed under my name at any Disney resort other than the Polynesian at WDW. My last name begins with an "S" and I now live in Arizona.

So there you go... figure at will as to what the reasoning is behind the pin code deal... maybe they just want to create this buzz about why did some get it and some didn't get it????

Yes, Disney Destinations. I just got mine in e-mail form today. Trouble is, they addressed it to the wrong person, but I think when I explain their mistake they will let me use it. They got my info from the reservation I made through WDTC for this upcoming Dec 2008 trip, which I cancelled. I might get a separate e-mail with the correct name on it. I wouldn't rule it out.

OOPs I forgot to mention the Disney Movie Rewards site... am registered there and have sent in movie stubs for credits and have filled out survey on that website. My last vacation to WDW in May was booked through Small World Vacations.

Don't know if either of these has anything to do with getting the pin code deal or not.

I agree, I rec'd the offer in the mail today and have not answered any surveys. In fact, after making my ressie on the phone, I was switched to a phone survey and immediately hung up.

I did create a "my disneyland" account online at disneyland.com. Maybe that had some influence?:confused3
