Sorry about the TMI but I have gotten a pimple on the bridge of my nose, I left it alone until it it did pop on it own but now there is a pea size lump there. its on the side and it is now putting pressure on my eye, so it feels like I got punched in the eye. I have tried to pop it but nothing comes out. I have been using pimple med, medicated face wash, every trick I can think of and the dermatologist cannot take me until next week...any ideas on how I can get this to go down or to at least pop it to release the pressure?

weird!! I had one on the bridge of my nose last week! It caused a little bit of swelling near my left eye and I constantly felt like there was something in the corner of my eye...made me nuts. I popped it (gross, I know)and its better now but there's still a small(smaller than a pea) bump there now though. curious to see what you find out.

I just had to say that I love your last tag. :lmao: It made me LOL!

Toothpaste? What does it do?

Does it have to be the paste kind? What if you have gel? Do you put it on at night? Do you wash it off after a few mins? Do tell...

Not to alarm you. but my DD14 had something exactly like you describe and it turned out to be MRSA.

I thought it was just a pimple, but the knot got bigger and it was more sore than a pimple should be. Then a red line started to come up from it and I knew it was time to see a doctor. She got huge doses of broad-spectrum antibiotics and I'm not a "rush to the doc and get meds" kind of mom.

She is perfectly fine now and has not had a recurrance. However, untreated it could have been very bad. If she hadn't improved in 24 hours (like she did) she could have been hospitalized.

I hope yours is really just a pimple, but if it seems overly sore or you see any redness get checked out by a physician. :thumbsup2

The toothpaste helps dry it out. I use the paste without whitening on mine. You can buy a cheap tube at the dollar store. I put it on at night and then wash it off in the morning.

A lot of derms here have walk in clinics just for pimples - run in, get a little injection and wake up with no pimple. Maybe check in your area?

Neosporin and a band-aid overnight. It draws out the puss. With me it's gone in 2 nights.

Plus it helps prevent any infection from developing.

I just went through this myself. I had a huge pimle on my chin. My mom said to put toothpaste on it. I did and it worked pretty good. I would use the pastes not gel. I did this two nights before bed.The first night I used paste and the second I used gel.Boy did that sting. Stick with the paste.

I second this. I had a pimple/mosquito bite/something once on my forehead. It kept getting bigger and redder, so I went to my doctor. It was MRSA, and I had to be on 3 different antibiotics to get rid of it. It was not fun, my whole face swelled up.

It could be cystic acne. If the acne meds aren't causing it to get a "head" and you can't pop it that could be the cause. Try using hot compresses on it and that should alleviate some of the pressure and swelling. Sometimes the cysts pop on their own, but that should get you through until your appt.

my DS had what we thought was a pimple (at 6!) on his nose... it got HUGE and was about the size of a green pea on the side of his nose and was very tender... took him to the dr, who said it may be a staph infection. tested it and it turned out to be mrsa... antibotic's helped clear it up, however, he has a scar (looksl like a giant wart) on the side of his nose now and the dr is considering removing it as they are concerned there may be a seed or cyst of the mrsa still in there... nice...

on the off chance that its just a pimple, toothpaste, baby diaper rash cream or Vicks Vapor Rub all work to help draw it out. also, warm compress's.

Tea tree oil! Works great on most skin problems (pimples, cysts, boils).

Thanks guy... looks like it is going away. Its still there but alot smaller and no more pressure...I am betting it is a cystic acne
