I'm so glad you enjoyed your sushi, Brenda! I like the tiki god glass; I don't have room left in my cabinets for any type of glass unfortunately.

AMEN!

now back to our regularly scheduled program...
:lmao::lmao:

Thank you! Me and my opinions will be here all week!

Captain Morgans Spiced Rum is what makes it different and very delicious :thumbsup2 I still need to try a lapu lapu

The sushi looks :cloud9::worship: I'm not a big nigiri fan (yet, working my way towards it) but that volcano roll, YUMMY!

Spiced rum, huh? All I can say is it was a fine and tasty beverage that really hit the spot! And Jay will be the first to say that you can't go wrong with the volcano roll.

:worship::worship:
They are really pissing me off.

There seem to be so many ways that Disney could offer the dining plan without ruining culinary creativity but I really don't think they want to. I got the distinct impression that repeat business doesn't mean squat to them - they don't care about what used to be great because all the first time visitors that they're trying to hook don't know how good it was. They think what they're getting today is terrific and that just makes us sad.

I could really use a Mai Tai today...they're so good for puns.

Sounds pretty tasty right now, doesn't it? Jay came home sick from work a little while ago so I obviously need to booze him to get him well again. :lmao:

The Kona sushi bar looks fantastic...we shared a roll as an appetizer when we ate at Kona Cafe but of course I don't remember what it was. :rotfl:

Good to know they stay open until 11 - a perfect post MK snack! Thanks for the review and pics!

For a sushi bar with limited food options they make some mean fishie-food - it seems like a great post-MK snack place for guests of the Polynesian. Thanks for reading!

BRAVO! :cheer2: We could not say it better ourselves!

Thanks my friend ... great minds and all that. :goodvibes

and Have you ever seen a grown man naked?! :rotfl2:

Are you talking about today? :rotfl2:

And do you like Gladiator movies?

I wanna drink in a Tiki God glass!

Mmmm. Sushi. Love Nigri myself - love rolls, too - and if I could afford it, I would eat my weight in Sushi and then start again in two hours when I was once again HUNGRY!:rotfl2:

Love your reviews, always -

Jaime

Thanks for the kind words, Jaime! I don't know what it is about those glasses but I want a pair - they're just cool! And I could probably eat my weight in sushi and then do it again two hours later, too! :rotfl2: It doesn't stick with ya very long, does it?

Hi Jamie! The sushi was excellent - if you like the stuff and have time you guys should give the Kona bar a try on your next trip. And we don't have room anywhere for more glasses either but I still keep buying them! :lmao:

That sushi looks good. Believe it or not, I've only actually ordered sushi in a restaurant once several years ago. I've been dying to find someone who will go with me since I have *no* idea what to order. I finally found someone at my school, and we're going on Monday. She's told me we'll start tame and graduate to eel later. Very excited! :thumbsup2

Hey there! The sushi at Kona was very good and pretty non-threatening if that makes any sense. I think it's great that you've found someone to sushi with ... it's great to have someone to share with who's got some experience. Start slowly until you find what you like! And you know what ... the eel isn't bad. It's not my favorite thing and I'd prefer to nibble on Jason's when he orders it, but it's not unacceptable.

And it came in one of these cool little island god glasses, which I desparately want a pair of and always forget to buy!

Island gods are most happy when filled to the brim with booze

So you say the glass isn't included in the price of the drink? :rolleyes1 :scratchin

'Mai tai' suggest a hot toddy?

Sadly, no. If I'd had more to drink I probably wouldn't have been above asking the staff if I could just keep it as a souvenir. :rolleyes1

Bwaaaaaahahahahahaha!! :worship:

No, but I like gladiator movies!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

 I asked about that, too!

Great review Bendy! I love me some raw fishies, and those looked top-notch!

Thanks for reading Heather - it was a good quick sushi-fix. I still like Wolfgang Puck's better but this was good in a pinch!

That sushi looks tasty! Unfortunately, DH is allergic to fish so I don't get to eat it that often.

And I'm :rotfl2: at the Airplane jokes - you people are nuts! (no offence)

I'm glad you had a good sushi meal. I love sushi so much and thought about giving it a try there this trip, but no room on the schedule. That volcano roll presentation looks wonderful.:lovestruc

I found myself at the Tambu lounge on 3 separate occasions during my trip. I was able to order off menu there to get delicous tiki drinks like a Zombie and Blue Hawaiian. Everywhere else it's same old same old, you're so right about that. Why did the menus have to get standardized right when I started vacationing at WDW as an adult?:headache:

I can't wait to read more.

Hey stranger! Nice to see you again! :goodvibes The sushi was quite good and the nice thing is that you could go there ... order sushi ... and your hubby could order something else from the Kona Cafe menu. Then you could both be happy unless he's so allergic that sitting near fish causes him a problem and if that's the case ... well, get him a bubble suit or something.

Airplane ... what a great movie!

A Hospital? What is it?

A large building with patients, but that's not important right now.

Kona makes good sushi - I'd say it's on par with or a little better than Tokyo Dining. Kimonos, CA Grill, and Wolfgang Puck's all have better sushi but this was good for a quickie. ;)

We need to get to the Tambu lounge one of these days. I think on our next trip we're going to try for a monorail drink-a-thon. :thumbsup2

You just crack me up every time....:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Great review- I always wonder what the sushi is like there.

Thank you ... I aim to please! :lmao:

The sushi is quite good ... definitely a great place for a quick meal that's tasty and fresh. :thumbsup2

Love the sushi review! Tom was looking over my shoulder and drooling over the pics of the nigiri...Hmmm, maybe a late night snack the day we arrive...:scratchin

I thought the nigiri was wonderful! And it is a great place for a late snack - hope you like it if you get a chance to stop there. :thumbsup2

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. That sushi looks so good, some tuna sashimi would hit the spot right now. Too bad I'm at work and have a stinky lean cuisine for lunch. :sad2:

We're having dinner at the California Grill in December and I plan to get sushi there since we have the DxDDP, but if there is a night in the MK where I'm not feeling a burger, I'll definitely go to the Poly for some sushi. Those volcano rolls look H-U-G-E. :yay:

Yo, Disney-Food Arbiters! What up with all the craptacular decisions you cartilage heads been making for the last three years??? First you pare down and homogenize the restaurant menus; then you standardize the cocktail menus; then you turn Pleasure Island into a dead zone that even zombies wouldn't want to visit; and now you close down all the resort restaurant kitchens at 10PM??? You think people don't get hungry in the late evening hours? You don't think they might want something a little more tasty than a cardboard wheel disguised as a pizza or a kangaroo patty with cheese? We want service ... with plates, glasses, silverware napkins, and a menu until midnight. If it can be done in Stinktown then surely it can be done at the WDW resort. Now hop to it, or next time we're going to Las Vegas for their food and wine festival!

Well.. I must say, that definitely reflects my opinions!! :lmao:

Volcano Roll, Nigiri, but no Fugu?? What's up with that??

(I also would have hoped to see the squid platter, with extra tentacles....)
