Pie in the Sky Dreaming...Thoughts on a Video Game Theme Park? (Nintendo, Blizzard, etc.)

I'd been thinking for a while about how Universal could consider better utilizing their connection with Blizzard (the company that makes the Warcraft and related games, on which Universal based the movie of the same name) in the parks. Heck, they could combine that with their Nintendo licensing acquisition to start up a video game themed park in general.

Well, between the new land acquisition announcements and the delays on hearing more about Nintendo placement, I was becoming even more suspicious. Then, Blizzard drops this announcement of a new map for one of their games, Overwatch:

My immediate reaction was, "I want to go to there..." Looking at the map more closely, too, I don't see much that would be THAT crazy to do in a real theme land, though obviously scaled back on floating nonsense and massive statues. I'm wondering if that's Blizzard's team being REALLY good at researching real life theme parks, or...something else? (Not to mention the possible nod to Jaws with that shark dock moment in the video.)

Just some pie in the sky dreaming...but a videogame theme park with different developers/IPs in different lands would be so, so cool.

I just got back from WDW and Universal last week and after going on the new Flight of Passage, I immediately thought how well a World of Warcraft flying wyvern/hippogrif ride would fit. I could imagine soaring over Azeroth and its many landscapes. It would be so cool. Im still holding out hope that Blizzard has a place at US Florida! :)

I wanna say there's a WoW park in China. I don't know what it's like but if they made one here, there's a ton of source material to use. IRL Stormwind or Undercity would be so cool, or maybe even make it neutral ground like Dalaran or a ride through Molten Core, Karazhan, or Icecrown Citadel.A ride on a wyvern or hippogriff might be too similar to Flight of Passage, I think.

Omg, a ride through those places (especially Karazhan) would be awesome!! Great idea. :thumbsup2

I'd be down for a Pirates of the Deadmines ride "I'll have to improvise". The park would have to have a bunch of character Murlocs running around and ransacking people. And the scariest coaster of them all Hogger's Revenge.

I would LOVE a WoW theme park! Take my money!

Not just WoW, but Blizz in general. I could imagine some amazing Starcraft rides as well. Imagine taking the Flight of Passage ride, but you have on a leading VR goggle, and Zeratul takes you on those "vision" missions in the VR to attack the overmind while you are moving.

That's brilliant. LOL!!

I just really enjoy watching the video for the Overwatch map because it looks like it'd be such a great park concept. I'll take a Hearthstone tavern any day!! And a HoTS arcade? And that adorable little griffin dark ride looking part??

The best part is if they gave it the Wizarding World/Volcano Bay theming treatment? Agreed, shut up and take my money.

Oh my gosh I just thought of how cool it'd be if they did a mini game like Sorceror's of the Magic Kingdom but collecting obnoxious numbers of bat brains or some nonsense.
