Is it frowned upon to get an individual and then a group picture with characters or are most photographers and other people waiting ok with this? Specifically wondering about Mickey and Minnie in AK. Thanks!

It's 100% fine. Most of the PP photogs will even suggest a group photo after individual shots are taken.
