Pictures of the 1600 Loop

No pix, but it is a pet loop, centrally located, only thing I would ask is to be near the backside off the road where it will be quieter from traffic noise.

We have a Preferred reservation and I thought 1600 would be good because it is closer to the pool than 1700, 1800 and 1900. We would like to be as close to the pool as possible because we probably won't be renting a golf cart. We don't have a pet, but I was hoping the pets there wouldn't be too bad. I'd love to hear anyone else's thoughts on the loop.

1600 is generally considered a Full hookup, though there have been report of preferred guests getting assigned 1600-1900... and paying $5 a night more than those neighbors! Depending on when you go, the only preferred loops may be 100-300 (after the renovations are complete). Right now, 100-300 and 700 are certainly preferred loops, and by definition 900-1100 and 1600-1900 can be considered preferred as well, even though they are traditionally Full. 900-1100 are eventually going to be Premium so it would be odd for them to go from Full-to Preferred-to Premium in a matter of months. 1600-1900 are reportedly remaining Full. Confused? Ahhh, my mission is complete! LOL

OH MY. . .I am confused.:confused3
We are going the 3rd week of May and when I read the FAQ sticky, I thought it said those loops were preferred. We would rather not be in 100-300 because it seems like a far walk to the pool. Would I be better off downgrading to FULL??:confused3

As of right now, 1600 & 1900 are the only full hook-up loops. Why? I don't know, cause they are the same as 1700 & 1800....W/E/S/CaTV. 1600 is a convenient walk to the pool, assuming the pool reno's will be on schedule.

I have a sneaky hunch that Disney will bounce the full hook-up loops around as they please between 1600, 1700, 1800, 1900. Again, that is a hunch, not fact.

1900 converted from full hookup to preferred during our stay in October. They actually wanted us to move to another full hookup loop midway through our stay since the 1900 loop was upgraded and our reservations were for full hookup. Did I tell them "No way", yep sure did. Supposedly it will convert back to full hookup once all of the renovations are complete. 1600-1900 are suppose to all be full hookup, pet loops after the renovations. It will be a waiting game to see what happens.

Thanks for the information. If anyone else has stayed in this loop and has thoughts, I would love to hear them. :)

We were there in January - full hook-up ressie. They put us in 1900. John at the front desk said that 1600 & 1900 will remain full hook-up loops thru at least June '09. He had no further info which is why I said they will probably bounce the full hook-up loops around. All the "premium sites" will remain as such, I'm sure. Those loops that have not been fully upgraded will probably end up in a full hook-up rotation with the exception of 100-300, which will remain preferred.

Funny they would ask you to move mid-stay. In December we were placed in 900 with a full hook-up ressie. The beginning of our stay - no CaTV. 2nd day into our stay - voila! Cable. They upgraded the loop to preferred but no mention about us having to move and no up-charge was ever mentioned. Back in '01 after 9/11, we were assigned a site for a 10 day stay in 1700. We could not get a satellite signal (no cable then) and took a GC ride around FtW checking out vacant sites where we could pick up a signal. Knowing that the 300 loop was preferred, we asked if we could move to site 360. Because the Fort was virtually empty then, they let us move & did not charge the difference, even though I told them I was willing to pay the difference. That was a different Disney back then.

I talked with a very pleasant CM at the Reception Outpost in Feb. and she said the plans for now, then smiled, is that the "cloverleaf" will remain full hookups until further notice.

It was very relaxed and quiet back in these 4 loops. Talked with a rather friendly lady who spends her winters in loop 1700 and has for years and LOVES IT.

Since we were there for several months, we had to go and do the check-in/check-out thing acouple of times (30 night max on a reservation). When we went to do this for our second reservation, they wanted us to move to the 1300 loop and I told them no way. Then they tried to charge me the additional fee for the preferred site rating upgrade in the 1900 loop. I again said no way. I made sure when I checked in for our initial reservation that we would not have to move during our stay and one of the "assistant mgrs" checked with someone in the "back" and confirmed that we would not have to move and would keep our reserved full hook rate. So I stood my ground because there was no way I was going to tear everything down and move. If I had moved to 1300 after my second check-in, I would have had to move again for the third reservation because they shut 1300 down for upgrades. What a pain it was to go through this everytime I needed to check-in again. Hopefully all loop upgrades will be done before we go down next fall - 'cause I won't go through that again.

Lone-star was acouple sites away from us and as he stated on another thread, he was charged preferred rate for 1900 loop.

I was told when we were there that they were making the 1700 and 1900 loop preferred only until the conversions were finished. He stated that the 1600-1900 loops would then be re-classified as full hookups again. Guess they were just trying to get a few extra $$ during the transition.

I really do hope this isn't taken rudely because it isn't meant to sound that way, but as a pet owner who has camped at Disney many, many times, why would you stay in a pet loop if you do not have a pet? There are many other loops closer to the pool that you could stay in. The pet loops are for those with pets and while the pets are generally "not too bad", the pet loops are for people with pets and if the pets bark, etc, they do have a right to do so as long as it isn't constant and during quiet hours. If you are concerned that the pets in the pet loops are going to be "bad" or make a lot of noise, I would highly recommend staying in a loop that isn't specifically for those with pets.

We too have frequented the Fort since 1974, with several trips per year and two years staying 3 & 4 months. During the busier times, they make certain loops "over-flow" pet loops. Since the reno's started, it's kind of a crap shoot where they place people with pets. Rumor has it that eventually the entire Fort will be pet friendly. While I'm okay with that, I know some people that are not.

One thing is certain. There is no consistancy when it comes to pets.

I have cats, and was told years ago by Kelly & Mary at the front desk not to even mention I have them because they do not go outside & are not noisy. That was in '03. I've never mentioned them since, and have never been questioned by a CM when they see them sunning themselves on the dashboard of the MH.

Our very first trip with our motorhome to Fort Wilderness we stayed in site 1629. I don't know why we didn't take very many pictures but I found this one. Keep in mind that all the wonderful undergrowth is now cleared out, so it is very open looking until the new shrubs grow in.

We love 1600. We've stayed in that loop all but one trip when we tried 300 and hated it!
It's close to the pool, the store, the bus stop and has 2 restrooms. It's the one we always request. I also like the feel of that loop. The sites seem wider and the people just a little bit nicer;)

Does anyone have any pictures of the 1600 loop or thoughts they would like to share with a newbie??

The only problem with that is I believe pets are showing up in every loop, not just pet loops. I love animals and have no problems with someone's pet or pets being a neighbor, as long as they are pleasant and follow basic common courtsey rules.

But someone who might not care for pets and suddenly find a long yapping dog might not be real thrilled.

Is it my imagination or do the "pet" loops keep moving......maybe it's just the pets insist on coming to the Fort so the pet loops overflowth. (My cat made me put that one in   )

I wish my cats would come with me. But they seem happy when I go on vacation. :rolleyes1 They just ask me to leave lots of pillows on the couch, the remote within reach and lots of sardines. I also think they use the internet. :confused3
