Pictures From Your Part of the World

I think I'm to blame for all the snow... I was planning on taking the snow tires off my car and putting the summer tires on today! Then it's snowing and blowing and all of around 24'F out in the afternoon. Brrr! More snow predicted here for the next five days at least... :(

we have a few big cities. largest is Sydney at 4.5 million, then Melbourne at 3.5 million, Brisbane at 1.8, Perth at 1.4, and Adelaide at 1.1. after that we have a few smaller cities and then a whole bunch of tiny towns all totalling the rest of the population (around 8 million).
I saw "Wolf Creek", I'm making sure to stay away from the outback. :rolleyes1

Seriously though, it looks like a lovely country. It's definitely on the list of places I'd like to visit some day... but man, is it a long ways away! So far, my one and only trip outside North America (not counting the Bahamas) was Romania... I think England's next, though Tokyo's high on the list, too.

btw yeah the WRC event just outside of Perth is great!
Yeah, everyone seems to love it, I'm surprised it's not on their calendar this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see it back next year. Here in the USA, rallying in general is virtually unheard of... in fact, this is the second (or is it third?) year in a row that it hasn't been on TV on any channel in our country. Thank goodness there are places to get the Eurosport coverage... I still have a WRC sticker proudly displayed on my STi, though. ;) Actually, there are rumors that they may be pushing to get a WRC event in the USA, in fact in New York, about four hours from me... Nicki Grist was there as a guest last year... needless to say, I'll be on cloud nine if that happens! Until then, maybe I'll try to schedule a trip to England when Rally GB is happening...

Jeanne B-- I love the two images of your road. Do you have a shot with everything green? It would make a nice series to hang on the wall!

Oh, so YOU'RE the culprit!! You're stirring up trouble on the Pentax/Nikon/Canon threads and now I've got a foot of snow on my lawn because of you!! But seeing as you're a Pentax guy, I guess I forgive you.;)

Cdn Friends of Pooh - Love the first shot.

Photo_chick - I don't have that same shot in green but that's a great idea. Hopefully I'll see green soon enough...if Groucho would only stop thinking about his dang summer tires!! :teeth:

Sir Bouncealot - Thanks for the compliment, there are so many fantastic pictures on here, I only considered mine subpar.

All the pictures on here are great, keep them coming everyone!!

Banff is on my list of MUST SEE Places in the world...actually it's the top of my list. I'm about 12 hours away now in North Dakota, so I WILL get there sometime soon.....omg it's so beautiful....

Here are a few of our pool. The water was warm enough for the kids (78F) to swim last weekend, but it's cooled off a bit since then.

The streets are all lined with wildflowers out here. I'm supposed to go shoot a bunch of kids in wildflowers today, but it ended up being too sunny. I'm going to wait until later to see how the light changes.

They are forcasting snow in my area on Easter. Easter people! This is Dallas. It does not snow much in Dallas.

You guys stop sending your cold weather down here!

One thing that I can be a little amused about, with the cold weather, is that an old friend of mine, who now lives in LA, is covering the NYC auto show this week and will be driving out to see us in a few days... he managed to get a Miata to drive (as a car reviewer, he never has to rent a car, just get one to "review") and the colder weather and thinned-out Southern California blood mean that he'll probably have to leave the top up the whole trip. Ha! :lmao:

WE (here in the Dallas area) have a chance of snow tonight! This is crazy! My pool was so close to being warm enough to swim in on Tuesday and now we may get snow???

Thanks a lot Groucho! ;)

These pictures are absolutely gorgeous! I love the Banff pictures - can I come live in that little town????

definition please ? ;)

Definition please

I love sunshine as much as anyone, but it's lousy lighting for kids sitting in wildflowers. You wind up with way to much contrast and dark shadows all over the place. I was really disappointed because the weather guessers promised me bright overcast, which is wonder wildflower shooting light.

I was hoping that evening shade would work for me, but the wind started whipping everything around late this afternoon.

So instead of shooting wildflowers, I spent my day riding bikes with my eldest to school, riding back to have lunch and recess with him, and riding back to pick him up. In the middle of those times, I drove around looking at wildflowers, took a few pool shots for this thread, lounged outside and surfed the net, heckled Groucho in one of the holy war threads, bounced on the neighbor's trampoline with my youngest, read a Canadian Rockies guidebook, and did nothing work related.

I'm bummed that our 70+ degree days are going away tomorrow with 50 degree temps and rain planned for the weekend. That means that we probably won't play soccer, hunt eggs, or go canoeing. I guess we'll throw some movies on in the theater room, fire up the Wii, and prepare ourselves for the horde of kids that usually end up at our house on rainy days.

I started hitting quotes to say how gorgeous the pics are but there are too many to quote. All of them are gorgeous. ::yes::
