Picture of the Day September 16, 2011

When I was there in October, we had one day where it rained 9"! NINE inches of rain in one day. I spent the entire day at Epcot WITHOUT my camera. I had the big rain poncho on (it never leaked, but parts of my shorts got soaked), but felt naked not having my camera with me.

You must be talking about October 8. We were at EPCOT that day and got absolutely soaked even with our ponchos on. We didn't even get to stay for the fireworks; we were wet, miserable and ready to go back to our hotel by 8 p.m. that night. :(

Yum! I could go for one of these right now!

Dark and gloomy here this morning. Woke at 7 and it was dark out! Massively overcast! Finally at about 9, I caught the slightest glimpse of where the sun was by a slightly brighter spot up in the darkness. This may have been why this image so grabbed me as I searched for today's Disney POTD!

Jud I have this shot (slightly different) as my screen saver.

One for today

Yup, it was October 8th. I was the only one from my group that stayed to watch Illuminations, but then I gave up on it too.

It's always my first shot!

An extra entry for today along with a bit of a story. This is from back in March of 2010...

It rained at Epcot- heck, it rained in Florida- growing through the day to really big thunder storms with tornado warnings all over the area. I carried on in Epcot, donning rain gear and stashing my canvas sneakers and socks in my under-seat lock-box on my ECV. The overcast skies made for near perfect lighting conditions on the topiaries I had been shooting for three days, from early morning to long after dark, always ending in disappointment with the burn-out of the bright sun, or the heavy shadow of back-lit sun or the failure of flash to evenly light.

By 2 PM, even the cast members were hiding and ducking for cover, or huddling in the small roofed areas of the Flower & Garden demonstration areas. I just went truckin’ on.

First time I've been barefoot in as long as I can remember and it felt great!!! Though my rain-gear did eventually bleed through and everything underneath got completely saturated, I did manage to last two hours longer than I had intended, while the rain just kept getting heavier and more driven. After a while it was nothing but desperate people huddled under plastic ponchos racing for the exits.

I kept shooting.

I LOVE rain pictures...post more! :thumbsup2 :tink:

So, do I post arrival, sunny or rainy today??:confused3

Rainy day story: We were accompanied on our first trip (2008) by Tropical Storm Fay. This was our once in a lifetime trip (:lmao:) so the rain couldn't stop us. Walking down Main Street, my 6 yo said, "Mommy, these are puddles of joy." :goodvibes

So, while searching, I realized I could work in all three. This was before I found an interest in photography...I was only documenting.

First time seeing MK (I went once when I was 10 but don't remember much of the trip) on a sunny day, before many, many rainy days!

Is that a repeat- or maybe I saw it on your photo account page: that is an exceptional and unique shot!

I thought so too until I went back and looked at Uncle Greg's shot on page 161. They must have taken the picture from the exact same spot.
