The Sword in the Stone - Fantasyland

There are a few iconic things I’m alway’s drawn to, I’m sure many of them are the same for you. I always look at the plaques as I go through the tunnels and under the rail road. I pause, or slow if I’m being hurried by others in my group as the Castle first comes into view at the far end of Main Street. When I’m leaving I always look for the lamp burning above the Fire Station. I stop and watch, if only for a moment the Mark Twain disappear in to the far depths of the Rivers of America. And of course I pause and look at the Castle from the “compass rose”, where I proposed to my wife all those years ago.

The Sword in the Stone is another iconic feature I always look for. Though I’ve never been strong enough to pull it out, it is a part of the fantasy of Fantasyland. Its placement, along with the carousel behind it are what come into view as you pass over the drawbridge and though the gates of the castle itself. It’s hard not to feel a little “spike” in the magic when you see it.

Borders
November 8, 2015

Borders between Lands at the Happiest Place are for the most part nondescript, smoothly yet quickly transitioning you from one realm to another. I’d say the transition between New Orleans Square and Adventureland is one of the best. Here the American flag flies above this border, with the “Dominguez tree” in Adventureland in the background.

Canmore statue, Canmore, Canada

The town's name in Gaelic means "big head" so they commissioned this statue to be placed in the town.

I think it's kind of ironic when you notice the nearby sign.
