I've heard so much about Tonga toast...does anyone have a picture of it?? Sounds like I'll be having some when we go in March!

I am the one person in the world who doesn't like Tonga Toast. Just in case you're disappointed in March, know that you can come and talk to me about it without being flamed for not liking a favorite. Sadly for me it was the single food item I was most looking forward to - based on recommendations of other Dis'ers.

That being said, I hope it's as good for you as it is for others! :goodvibes

(The food porn thread should have some pictures of it for you)

banana stuffed sourdough bread, rolled in cinnamon sugar and served with Strawberry Compote and your choice of ham, bacon, or sausage $10.99

It was too sweet for me, and I LOVE plain cinnamon tost, and almost tasted deep fried.

Ick. :scared: Glad I asked. Does not sound like my kind of thing.

A heart attack on a plate....for breakfast. Great way to start the day!

I do believe it is fried....and Tricia, I don't like it either. :cheer2:

So there are two of us! :cheer2::cheer2:

Thanks for coming out of the closet with me on this, not liking Tonga Toast can be scary.

Tricia, what's wrong with you - not liking Tonga Toast?! Sheesh! ;) DH, DD and I split it with an omlete and the fruit platter. I couldn't make my only breakfast item unless I was planning on sleeping the day away on the TTA!

Here's a picture of the Tonga Toast!

Was thinking of trying it but it looks too sweet - I don't like anything with sugar sprinkled on it. But, it means there's more for those who DO like it:thumbsup2 .

That looks soooooo yummy!! Is that one giant chunk of bread or several stacked on top of each other?? I can't tell...ooohh thanks so much for posting the pic! I will be trying it in March!

:rotfl: Christa - that's probably what I am doing wrong. You know how I am watching my sugar, and it's the only thing I ate for breakfast. I got very sick - very fast! We practically ran to the nearest vendor in the MK to get some protein for me - FAST!

A tiny person like you would have the stamina to both handle the sugar AND be smart enough to split an omelet too!

I tried it twice last week and was not impressed. (The second time was just in case the first time was a mistake.) It is SUCH a thick piece of bread, and the bananas were just in the very middle, so you were eating a heckuva lot of bread without the bananas. I cut the first one in four pieces and one of them had no bananas and the other ones had a couple of slices. My kids preferred the Mickey pancakes, and they are sugar fiends. Oh, and we didn't get strawberry sauce with it either time, and neither did the tables around us. I didn't want it so I didn't ask for it, but it seemed like it might be something they don't always serve.

It's one thick piece of bread. They cut an opening in one end and stuff in the bananas. It's sooo yummy. My one suggestion - try it first before putting any syrup on it. It really doesn't need any.

Tiny? You are too kind, Tricia! I have not been tiny in a long time. I am positive you are tinier than I am. I have to have my protein in the morning or I crash hard, no matter what I eat. So, we found that splitting our three meals worked out best. We had a taste of everything, and enough protein to counter all the sugar on the tonga toast!

We love it. We order the fruit plate with it and it's a great breakfast. Also, don't put syrup or anything additional on it. It's sweet enough alone. We walk it all off in the parks:banana:

But, it is a once per trip meal. We only have it one morning.

Christa, where did you get that Rufus beside your plate?????? He is my favorite (after Dopey, of course). I have a stuffed Rufus that DF got for me online, but I have never seen him (Rufus, not DF) at the world!!!!

PS, I am a BE addict, also. And I like Tonga Toast but don't usually order it because it is too much.....LOVE the idea of sharing! :)

We just made it at home for supper. Never having had it at WDW, I have nothing to compare it to-but it was GOOD. Modified it a little so I couldn't actually feel our arteries hardening:lmao:
Thanks for the pic of what it looks like!!

I have to admit I grabbed the picture from someone else's post!! I had a picture saved somewhere, but I couldn't find it, and I had to share the Tonga love! :rotfl: Definitely plan on sharing the Tonga Toast the next time you go - it's so worth it!

Excellent - I LOVE BE Addicts!!
