I'm here! I made it! Had to find this as soon as I got some time on the boards!
And now my thoughts! Possibly out of order, and I didn't do quotes because I was lazy. But I have three sticky notes' worth...
I am so glad you had luck with your table for 6! I am the exact same way in that I can be friendly, but for the most part, I want to be left alone when I am eating. I feel like it could be a disaster if you got annoying people! But thankfully, you didn't, and you made friends! How wonderful! I did laugh that you didn't tell Jake ahead of time...hehehe sly move!
Glad the alcohol smell worked. I don't know what Bonine you took, but I have learned there are two different types (there apparently only used to be one?), so maybe if you try the other, it would make you less drowsy? I still haven't completely mastered it. I don't get sick, but I stay sleepy! But I also kinda like it. We take EXCELLENT naps. And the rocking to sleep is incredible. I will say, the past two long cruises have been hard on me when I return. I feel the rocking for a week or two after, and it is NOT fun. I first had an issue because I came home with Covid, but this last one, I tested negative. The internet says the longer the cruise, the more likely to have this happen, but that it is rare. Yay, me!
I was so tickled to see you loved the Diaper Dash! It is just one of the many things that people don't think about with cruising, but turns out to be such a delight. That and the trivia, y'all really did well on that! It makes all the difference when you have a good cast member, and I think DCL does a great job finding those personalities!
Speaking of cast members, the fact that they remember names and faces and tiny details is incredible. It will always be the best part for me. We have gotten so close to our wait staff on 7-night cruises that I even cried a little on the last night. Our main server was leaving after our cruise to see her son, and she was so excited. You could tell she missed him terribly, and it just reminded me of the sacrifice she was making. Yet she always had US as her top priority, so I could feel the love she had for her job, too. So bittersweet. I could tell she was a wonderful mother, and she mothered us in such a sweet way.
I love your cruise tee and spirit jersey. I never regret my purchases, hehe. Since we put in a pool this summer, I have started collecting beach towels from the ships and parks. Feels like I opened up a new world of souvenirs!
Your Castaway day was perfection. I agree, it is incredibly photogenic! This year, the girls really got into the photo shoots, and they got some great shots. We have yet to have a bad weather day there. I know they exist, but we have been lucky. I also love the food there! Glad Jake got his beers and you got your banana ice cream!
Tell your mom to get in line behind me for Josh D. He is such a cutie pie!
I agree that the shows can be a little cheesy, especially the originals. We have loved a few, but cannot remember which ones! I know I liked one that was like an Award show, but didn't love the one you saw. But we have always enjoyed the ones based on a movie. On the Treasure, we saw the Moana show, and I have never been so impressed. They also did Beauty and the Beast, but it was different from the park version, and I loved how they changed it up. I do think you would have liked the Frozen show, but I understand its ALOT sometimes when you are exhausted. We have also loved the comedians and performers that were not Disney related. That is about the only thing that is keeping us from trying a new cruise line - Jason doesn't think he would love the shows as much!
Scarlett has a shellfish allergy and thankfully, it is not severe, but they treat it so very seriously. Since she doesn't have any cross-contamination concerns, we have stopped telling them because sometimes it slows things down. I appreciate that they take it as life or death, as it can be for some. I cannot imagine not having garlic or onions; those are two of my favorite foods besides sugar! This is probably a stupid question, but do you take digestive enzymes? Maybe that could help during travel at least.
So they have changed up the final show. They used to do it differently, and I agree, now it doesn't make sense. I liked running around and getting a photo because that was the only time we would. Oh well!
Finally, I could never. Ever. Ever. Watch that Poop Cruise documentary. I cannot believe his parents almost experienced it! I agree that the idea of cruising can be scary, but I do think DCL is more sanitary than most parks. Somehow, we still get sick after we come home (I am starting to blame the airports!)
Your July WDW trip looked perfect. The kids are growing up and becoming such sweet Disney-goers! I cannot believe your weather was milder than May; that has me a little concerned about our early June trip. I guess I will just have to wait and see what Mother Nature deals me!
As always, thanks for sharing your trips with us!
