Pics of the Castle being painted tan Oct 22

I actually rather liked the gold on the castle. I rather like (or at least don't strongly dislike) the Mickey hand on the Epcot ball. I've learned to ignore the Big Hat at MGM.

I don't think I'm going to like this at all. I loved seeing the castle sing in the Florida sun. I just don't think a brown castle would have the same effect.

AAAHHHH!!! Why are they doing that? :sad2: It almost looks a little pinky to me. :confused3 Unless that my color resolution on my monitor. :artist:

safetymom do you do personal shopping and shipping? You know 'any excuse' to go to the parks :cool1:

madcoco - are you moving any where near Tiger Woods?

Agreed.
but, I take it that you don't like the hat at MGM.
I like the hat, but I wish it had more purpose. Like all it is is a pin store. Every other park's "symbol" has real meaning. Like SpaceShip Earth has a ride in it, The Tree of Life has a 3-D show in it, and Cinderella's Castle houses a restaurant. But, the hat at MGM really isn't that important, I think they should have done more with it.
Anyways...
I know what you mean about the whole "glittering" in the sun thing. I loved the little gold figures floating around the castle. I will definitely miss it.

I agree with you here. I like the hat enough but c'mon, a pin store? They certainly could have picked something better. Especially being in a park where movies, special effects, etc are big. :wizard:

I may be wrong but when the hat first went up there was computers that the guests could learn about Walt Disney. I may be wrong but it was something else before the pin store.

oh i don't like it.Please somebody tell me it will be painted over in white.
Surely they aren't gonna mess with the most recognised symbol of WDW.

For what its worth,

Back when the castle was decorated as a cake, we took the Keys to the Kingdom tour and was told that the pink color was actually a primer. After all the public out cry (which I am sure Disney has heard) I cant believe they would try changing it again. Even if it was temporary.

After seeing the Tokyo Castle, I must say that the new color scheme will make it look more royal and more wealthy. The gold on the Castle should have stayed, minus the mirror. Personally, after seeing the bling on the Castle I didn't want it to go back to the original. It would just look so plain. I mean light grey? The new scheme adds depth to it. And the darker blue with all the gold trim is going to be stunning. If it would stay this way, I wouldn't care. It adds more character and will make the Castle pop more rather than the all grey color it was before.

Besides, I really despise Cinderella (she's so overrated) so the fact that it's Cinderella Castle that this is happening to and not Sleeping Beauty Castle makes me chuckle. Aurora is the first princess to wear a crown, she's the real deal, not Cindy. Sorry, Cindy fans.

Any idea when it will be done? We arrive in 2 1/2 weeks - really don't want to see a crane in my pics of the castle. This is only our second trip - last one was 5 years ago and our last trip for at least that long again - really would like to see the castle done by the time we get there - is it wishful thinking?

I think they will still have the crane when you arrive. It really isn't that bad and if you go in the afternoon the crane seems to be lowered.

I'm not very good with posting pictures, but can someone do a side by side comparison of the Tokyo Castle and the Orlando Castle?
Here is a link that has links in it to all the castles.

Thanks for the pictures.

I'm not sure if I like it or not. I'll have to wait and see it in person next month. I liked the other color just fine though.

Sorry, but it will most likely still be there.

The first time I walked down Main Street U.S.A there was a HUGE crane lifted over the top tower. Really spoiled the mood. :guilty:
