I have always been a very picky eater, but have learned to enjoy some new foods over the past couple of years. I always hear great reviews of Boma & would love to check out the AK Lodge. Can a picky eater survive Boma?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated - Thanks!!! :D

Probably yes -they have the children's food bar (chicken nuggets, spaghetti). I'm sure you'll do fine with desserts too . With main courses, they usually have a carved meat (Prime rib for example) that is just basic prime rib. Sometimes they have roasted chicken that isn't spiced heavily. Of course there are salads, fresh fruit. There are always chefs standing near the food bars that you can ask if something is spicy or not. It's a buffet- so you can always try something new- and if you don't like it- you can get more desserts (hee-hee). My FIL did fine- He's a meat and potatoes kind of Guy- but he does like Chef Mickeys better!.

I'm the pickiest eater I know, and I did fine at Boma. The Prime Rib is excellent.

My Mom (in her early 70's) is a very picky eater though brave enough to try some new things sometimes. My sister ( in her late 40's) can be somewhat picky. Neither one of them cared for Restaurant Akershus or Marrakesh at Epcot. Both of them enjoyed the meal trip to Boma. They both tried some new things and seemed to find stuff they like as well as going for the more "regular" type things.

Thanks to everyone for the info - I think we'll give this one a try in January. We would love a new place to try & I always hear such great things about Boma. (I'd also really love to check out AKL & this gives me an excuse to get over there. ;) )

Thanks again! :D

My kids both really liked Boma and they aren't very adventurous eaters. I asked them to try out a variety of food first and if they didn't find anything they liked off the regular buffet then they could go to the kids buffet. You know what neither of them ever made it to the kids buffet. There is such a wide variety of foods here that even pickey eaters should be able to find something they like.

If you are a picky eater, I wouldn't risk Boma. I am not picky, but was not impressed by this restaurant during our April '02 trip. While everyone's tastes are different, I just don't know that I would chance it if I were you.... ;) Why pay $25 to "maybe" find a few things that you may like???

I think we're going to go ahead & give Boma's a try in Jan. We are running out of our favorite restaurants to eat at & really need to find a new great restaurant out there. I'm also looking forward to checking out the AKL. Thanks for all the replies!
