Picky child and DDP

Hi All,
We are staying on site at Disney for a week next August and have the free DDP. Our soon to be 15 year old is still a bit picky with his food, although he's getting better. Would it be ok for him for example to ask for plain pasta with grated paremesan on, or plain steak or chicken rather than the various sauces etc that they normally come with. I think he would eat well if it was ok but not so well if there was little or no flexibility.

Has anyone else had experience of asking for dishes that are more basic than on the menu, I presume in most cases it would just be a case of the chef not adding ingredients rather than asking for a new dish altogether and are some places more flexible than others?

Thanks for any help.

Michael

My fourteen year old very similar! We found DDP OK, asked for plain steaks etc without sauces-no problems. We chose several buffets also as this gives 'fussy' eaters more options, Boma at AK lodge, Chef Mickeys at Contemporary and Crystal Palace at MK. Bet he doesn't do 'veggies' either does he:laughing:

we had plain chicken and pasta a load of times for my ds.
they are happy to accomodate, in fact the grilled chicken fingers are just plain chicken from the kids menu.
have a great time xx

Yes, we have a very picky 14 yo too. We had no problem getting plain food. The places we ate were only too happy to help us.

We were on the free DDP this summer, and my sister (an adult) is one of the pickiest people I know when it comes to food. She is someone that often has trouble finding something on a traditional British pub menu that she likes, so we knew the DDP was going to be a challenge where she was concerned.

Anyway, Disney were brilliant with her the entire time we were there. There were several places we went where there was little to nothing that she would eat, and on all occasions, without exception, the servers found something else for her to eat. She had adult portions of things from the children's menu (charged at adult price), variations of things already on the menu, and on occasion when necessary, our servers even went and found her something that wasn't even on the menu - like Pizza at Hoop Dee Doo! :rotfl:

So, if we can survive the DDP, I think anyone can!!!

The best thing now though is that now she feels more confident about trying new restaurants, because she knows that wherever we go and whatever is on the menu, there will always be something for her to eat because the servers are just great at sorting you out.

Hope that puts your mind at rest a little.
