Pickup Family after renting car at MCO

I'm renting a car at the MCO Alamo, is it possible for my family to wait on the street of the first floor for me to drive by and get them after I get the car?

In other words, coming from the the Alamo rental parking garage, can I swing by to get them or do I need to leave the airport and go in a circle to get them? :drive:

I don't want to lug them into the rental place if I don't have to.

Does this make sense??

The answer to both of your questions is YES! :rotfl2: I and my brother-n-law normally get the rentals while the family drags the bags to the curb. You have to loop the airport to get back to the arrivals curb side. Technically you do not leave the airport if you keep a keen eye out at the signs.

Sometimes Skycaps are the best way to go. We've had them bring the "big cart" and we've gotten luggage for the ten of us taken to the cars with minimum hassle.

You know Alamo is on-site, no shuttle bus, right? And has automated kiosks? And that you walk straight to your car in the garage right next to the baggage claim (though down one level)?

It sounds like your plan is more hassle than loading the luggage onto a cart, having them wait by the door while you 'check-in', and then all of you walking straight out to the car.

Be sure you note which side of the airport they are on - A or B. You are going to have to circle around.

If you all want to go get the rental car together, it is very easy. Join Alamo's frequent rental program before your arrival. Then when you claim your baggage on level 2, take the elevator down to level 1, bypass the rental car desks and go directly into the parking garage across the little road. There you will find your car. Oh yes, you will also save 30-45 minutes by not going to the Alamo desk on level 1 of the airport terminal.

Of course, you can do all this by yourself and then circle around, but it's more trouble than it's worth. It's your choice.

Kind of on the same subject, but we are coming in on SW, then picking up 2 in our party an hour later on American Airlines. Is American set up the same way as SW, ie get your bags and then go down 1 level to the pick-up area? Just checking---I think I'm right. Thanks!

You arrive on level 3, claim baggage on level 2 and visit the rental car counters and/or exit the building on level 1 (street level).

Again, if you belong to your rental car's frequent rental program, you bypass the rental car lines (depending on time of day, they can be lengthy) and proceed directly outside to catch a hotel shuttle or to the parking garage to get your car.

You deplane on Level 3, then you have to go to Level 2 to claim your bags. Then you have to go to Level 1 to the rental counter or kiosks and then walk across the street to the garage to get your car.
Option 1
If you can handle getting the bags yourself and then go to pick up the car, the rest of your party can wait at the departure curb on Level 3 and you would have to exit the garage and circle around to the "departure area" which is Level 3) to get them.
Option 2
The easiest way in my opinion would be for everyone to go to the baggage claim area and collect the bags, while you go and get the car.
After they have the bags they can simply walk out the door to the curb on Level 2. You can then get the car, and circle around to the "arrivals area" ( which is Level 2) to pick everyone up.

As DebbieB stated make sure you know which terminal you arrived at A or B.

You cannot pick up anyone on Level 1, that area is restricted to buses and taxis.
