Yeah, typical male is right. I pick her up at 1. Woo hoo!!

Can't wait to hear all about it. You ought to go to bed and get some rest. Too bad you couldn't get a picture of Mark when he sees his mom.

You are a good woman, Tracy! :worship:

Good grief... it took me 2 days to catch up on all the posts! (No skimming for me...LOL!) I am not even going to try to comment on everything... just know I read it and thought of you all!

Samantha would love a dog (she’s been after me for 3 years now – I’m relenting a little ....)

Tucker asked for a dog for several years, and we always had a good reason to say no. Then he comes home in 1st grade and says "I decided since Daddy won't buy me a dog, I'm just gonna ask Santa!" :rotfl2: He got his dog!

Well now ya tell me! Sheesh. Wonder if I could attach some rags to the dog and then toss his ball down the hallway. Or, I could wrap the cat in rags and then sprinkle catnip all over the floors. Hrm...I might be on to something! :thumbsup2

My friend actually does clean her floors this way sorta. She wets handtowels, then steps on them and slides her feet all around the kitchen. I have never tried it, but she swears by it!

I was in someone's neck of the woods yesterday in NC, though. Em and I went to dinner at an On the Border in Cary, NC. We were in Durham, but that restaurant had closed. Had to drive more miles away to Cary, but Em really wanted to eat there.

I think I said I will be in Raleigh in Oct. So if anyone wants to meet for dinner or something we can.

That's me! We are about 20 minutes from On the Border. Let me know closer to when you will be here in Oct, and I will see what I can work out. I will be very busy then with Girl Scouts, taking fall training classes. But if I can work it out, I would love to get together! Or maybe we can meet near Greensboro one day and get Christine there, too.

I'm sorry I haven't been around this week... it was a very rough one for us... financially and emotionally. We have had to make some very tough decisions starting with me turning my car into the bank, and beginning the process of filing for bankruptcy. We are now so far behind on our bills that we do not make enough money to keep up with minimum payments any longer. I closed 1 credit card 6 months ago, and the balance has actually increased by over $500. :sad2: But we took a 30% paycut back in Jan, and have held on and tightened our belts for as long as we possibly could. We decided to cut our losses, bankrupt, and start over. Not where I was hoping to be at this point in my life. :sad1:

On the brighter side... without the $2000 going to unsecured debts each month... I should be able to visit WDW by next Oct. I hope I don't sound flipant to be planning a trip in the back of my mind while filing for bankruptcy. But by the time we get through with this, and after the year we've had, I am really going to need a vacation!

As for a girls trip, I would have to say that I am a nae. As much as I would like it, I can't see visiting WDW without my kids at this point in their lives. But if you all happen to go around end of Sept/early Oct for free dining... I would love to have a DIS meet!

And Janet... it was in June 2007 when we last ate at 1900 Park Fare. We thought breakfast was good, but nothing special. Dinner was incredible! Probably our favorite meal that week. Hopefully it hasn't gone downhill that badly since then.

Good mornin' pickles

Sam and I decided to go off to NYC today and meet up with my sister in law. Sam will go home with her for a few day's visit (good since we still have no AC).

Trac - will be thinking of you and Mark today - isn't it a great feeling to be pulling off this surprise for Mark? Hope you all have a blast visiting with Mom.

Kari - these  are for you - sent you a PM.

Have a safe and fun weekend everyone! Enjoy!
Janet

Good Morning, Pickles,

Trac ~ is today the day Mark's mother arrives? Of course, I've forgotten, but thinking of you and happy for you all!

Kari ~ My heart breaks for you. I totally understand planning a Disney trip - these are the things that get us through the tough times. We need light at the end of the tunnel - a trip to WDW is that light for many of us.

Heather ~ trust you are having fun with your friend. :)

Kathy ~ what's up in Chicagoland today?

Janet ~ just got off the phone with you so know you'll be having a good day. :goodvibes

Kelly ~ your pups sound cute as can be!! would love to see a pic of every one's furbabies. ::yes::

Well, everyone it is Saturday and here I am ...same ole chair, same ole laptop, nothin' to do and nowhere to go...sigh...I need a life!! When we move and live someplace where I can get out, walk to places or take public transportation, I will once again, have a life. :thumbsup2

Be back later!:flower3:

Good mroning, Pickles.

Welcome back, Kari...we've missed you. I'm sorry about all your troubles; I'm hoping it doesn't get to that point for us.

Janet, have a great time in New York and I'm still working on CP.

Tracy, can't wait to hear about Mark's reaction when he sees mom.

Kelly, got pictures of the pups to share.

Heather, hope your migraine is better.

Chrstine, today, we are meeting Amy & Dan (Amy&Dan of the DIS) for lunch in Wilmette. It will be the first official DISer I've met. I can't wait.

Talk on you all later...have a good day.

Mom is tired and taking it easy. She's had no further incidents and is waiting for test results. I've no clue when she expects those. Asking will probably just make me angry so I just wait. Thanks for asking. :)

I am zonked from cleaning all day. Hubby didn't even notice or ask why. lol I am headed for bed, I think.
I'm glad your Mom is hanging in there...let us know when she gets her test results.

Mark sounds like a typical Man to not notice the cleaning...oh well, will make the suprise even bigger! I can't wait to hear all about it!

Good Morning, Pickles,

Heather ~ trust you are having fun with your friend
We had a good time, but I'm exhausted...Between her 3 kids and my 2, it got crazy. She is now on her way to another friend's house, where we are having a pool party tomorrow (if if doesn't rain)
Good mroning, Pickles.

Heather, hope your migraine is better.

Talk on you all later...have a good day.

It is, thanks!
I just needed to get away from the computer..our database that I use for work has a light background with fields highlighted un yellow....sometimes by the end of the week, I just can't take it anymore....that color combination just doesn't work well for me.

Have fun meeting Amy&Dan! It's amazing who you can meet on the DIS, and how you can become friends in real life too, evem though you live miles apart.

Have a great day, Pickles!!! Martina is snuggling up beside me to watch Enchanted.:cloud9:

Janet, I thought I quoted it, but now I don't see it...have fun in NYC today!

Hope no other quotes went AWOL on me!!!

Wonder how the surprise went for Mark from Tracy???

We just got back from a wonderful lunch with Amy and her husband, Dan (Amy&Dan here on the DIS). It was great fun meeting someone that I talk to here on the boards all the time. Here is a photo that the waiter took at lunch:

Kathy, what a wonderful photo! Where did you all eat? Looks pretty.

So glad you had a chance to meet Amy & Dan. :)

Awesome picture!
I'm glad you had a great time!

Oh Kari, I am so sorry to hear of the troubles you are going through. Seems like everyone is suffering the pinch. Stinks. :( Big hugs to you.

Well, I pulled it off. Hee hee. Mark's work has a summer party for the kids every year and it happened to be yesterday afternoon at 1 and momma's bus was coming in at 1:15. Uh...ruh roh!!! I managed to stall them into going around 2pm. Whew. I went to the grocery store and then the bus stop. It was hotter n' Hades here. Blech. When I got home, I came in the house and got Mark. He was ironing his shirt in his jammies. lol I asked him to go get the groceries out of the truck. He did...and...momma was standing around the corner! Surprised the crap out of him! HAHAHA! Then the big hug and tears came. He is such a sap. It was a beautiful sight. :) I did not have time to grab the camera. I don't know how to use the darn thing anyways. Oh well.

We went to the bbq and had a lovely day and evening. It's going to be crazy busy here. Mark is going to try and get Thursday and Friday off. I hope he can. I'm not sure how much I'll be on, so have a great week everyone! xo

Tracy, I am so glad the surprise worked for Mark. And it just shows that the man has a heart that the hugs and tears came! Good for him to let his emotions show.

Have a great visit and let us know how things go when you have time.

Tracy....Sounds like the surprise was a hit! Good for you.

I'll find pics of the dogs to put up here as well as some of me and the dh and girls.

Hope everyone had a good Sunday. It was National Kelly Day here and I declared it a day to do what I wanted. I have to go back to school tomorrow, so today it was all about me! lol

:)

Good for you! I saw that on Facebook. So what did you do on "Naitonal Kelly Day?"

I am going to be in Raleigh as a presenter for Zoo-Phonics on October 1,2, and 3 at the NCAEYC conference at the convention center. I've never been there before. I will have my car with me, but I won't be available to leave until after the conference each day.. usually about 5. Then on Saturday I will leave to come back home. BUT, I would love to see you guys in my area.

Kari.. also... we had to file bankruptcy before. Jeff had lost his job a couple of times and it was hard. Then Baylie got sick and the medical bills were overwhelming. It was hard to do, but we have come thru it. Jeff and I were talking about all the people that lost money during this recession and we didn't...but we didn't have any to lose! We are fortunate to both have jobs, but Jeff's in building material sales.. and I am a teacher. His could change at any time. I also have the second job and that has helped so many times.
I will keep you all in my prayers.

Kathy - so glad you had a great visit with Amy & Dan. Nice pic -- It looks like you known each other a long time:) But -- no eeyore ears for Mark??

He thought of wearing the Eeyore ears...but we thought the shirts were enough. :rotfl2:

How was your trip to New York?

Good Morning, Pickles!

Trac ~ how sweet! Sounds the surprise was perfect~ Maybe you can get a pic or two during her visit. Have fun! We'll be here when you have time to stop by. :)

Kelly ~ I'd love to come to meet you and Kari in Raleigh, but I don't drive, so I'll just wave from here. ;) Hope y'all do have a chance for at least quick visit.

Kathy ~ How was the rest of your weekend? Looks like you've got some severe weather out your way -everybody keep safe!

Janet ~ No doubt you had fun with your friend Welcome home! Where are you off to today....or is it back to work?

Kari ~ Take care...things can only get better.

Have a good Monday, my friends.

LOL October 1-3 is out for me. :guilty: I have Girl Scouts on Thursday, then a training conference over the weekend. But do let me know the next time you come to town.

Wynn's job is doing the drafting at an engineering firm. They handle 90% of the plans for new and remodeled schools in NC. But since NC has frozen all building projects, they have lost most of their business. I'm sure Jeff is felling similar stress in the building industry.

Kari ~ I am in the midst of filling for bankruptcy right now...court date is August 24th..this morning I have to watch a TWO HOUR on line credit counseling session, thanks to the Bush Administration. The first session was about 30 min or so,answering a long list of questions, but this one even has a quiz at the end and I fear I'll never remember 2 hours worth of boring info. Take care...things can only get better.

I am dreading the courses. :sad2: But honestly, I feel so much relief from just having talked to some lawyers and made a decision. I have slept better in the last few nights than I have in 6 months because of the constant pressure. And I know that within a very few months things are going to be 100% better around here.
