Pickle part II

We had a fun family night last night. We went to TGI Fridays for dinner, then to see G-Force in the theatre. We don't do stuff like that to often, so it was a fun treat! And TGI Fridays is a family favorite... YUM!

We LOVE TGIFridays. How was the movie?

Oh, Kathy, what a wonderful tribute to your dad.

Yes, in 20 days it will be one yr for you and 10 for me...does not seem possible it has been 10 yrs since I have hugged Toby or heard his voice. Sometimes I fear that one day I will not be able to remember his voice anymore...

Been raining here all day, but no storms ..I love the rain when the windows can be open and the sounds of rain hitting the trees and the trees rustling in the wind - but waay to hot for that today!!

Kathy ~ for snagging the breakfast ADR at CP! do you like the on line system? I looked at it for the frist time yesterday and found it took forever - but maybe I haven't figured it out yet any suggestions?

I need a trip to plan ..Kari, did I ever answer your question about Savannah and how we got back to Southport? Decided it was going to be too hot to really enjoy walking around - it's city made for walking, so back to Southport. At least we can stroll around Southport, but have the car to drive to the beach. Any suggestions for a nearby beach community?

There is a chance my friend might not be able to come - close family member is in the hospital with cervical cancer and it's not looking good.

Geesh, today is dragging by!! Still doing laundry, need to vacuum, but might leave that to Tuesday morning, if she still comes. Otherwise I'll do it Thursday morning before Mia and all get home.

Should get off this computer and go back to reading a book!!

I can't believe it is one year and I can't believe 10 for you.

I find the online dining to be great. I was able to quickly make ressies once I found what I wanted and then learned I could cancel the ones I didn't (I was going to call and cancel and then found the way to cancel them). The only one that we really want that I've not been able to get is LeCellier and I don't hold out much hope for that one. But that's okay...I'm going to Disney!

I love TGI Fridays. I had marinated chicken breast with american and mexican cheese and onions, grilled shrimp, and cheesy mashed potatos. Top it all off, I had printed out $5 off coupons before we went!

The movie was cute. I was expecting it to be similar to the Chipmunks movie... it had a better story line, but not as funny. But the kids enjoyed it, so that was the main thing.

We took the girl scouts to the beach by the aquarium. From Southport, take the ferry across the Cape Fear River ($5 each way.) When you get off the ferry, there is only one choice of road, so follow it about a mile til you get to the aquarium. You will pass the public access beach before you get to the aquarium parking lot. They have rest rooms and drink machines, and I believe a snack bar, but don't quote me on that! This beach was very pretty... lots of sand and not crowded when we visited. You could also try Caswell, Holden Beach, or Yaupon Beach. It has been a while since I have been to any of those, so can't comment on how nice they are. You could ask for reccommendations at your hotel when you get there, too.

Ya know - I just love youse guys and so grateful we happened to respond to a little post saying "I'm in a pickle" (or something like that ).

The most delightful Dis'ers began trying to help....the nuttiest stayed around for the long haul....which brought us to this wonderful time when we get to share Tracy's funfilled, and very happy romantic getaway!

I know we will be here for one another for trips in the next weeks, months or years. I absolutely hope and pray a "Girls Trip" truly happens one day in the not too far distant future. I bet we could all manage a long weekend, sharing rooms and doing mostly CS. What fun we'll have!

Christine, how do you always say everything right?? We will have to ensure that the "girls" trip will happen.

Oh my gosh. I forgot the most important picture. Silly me. This was a special pose. Kathy, this one is for you and your Marky. Congratulations on being able to stay a few days at CSR on your Marco Island trip. I am absolutely thrilled for you.

Relaxing by the pool, reading a book, sounds heavenly ... sounds familar too, I just did this yesterday at the shore. It was an AWESOME day!!

Oh, and I forgot to tell you all something. Yesterday, at a local restaurant here in town (Village Tavern) hung my dad's picture on the wall. Dad used to go every Sunday with my brother for lunch/drink. They all loved my dad for his sense of humor, his taking every day as it came; they truly admired the fact that when he was on the "thickening stuff he had to put in his drinks" and even when he ended up with a feeding tube that he was not ashamed and still came in with my brother (my boys would go every once in awhile too) and he would still have his cocktail of choice and put it in his food tube and enjoy. They wanted him on their "wall of fame" so they hung his picture yesterday (it is this picture below).

Kathy, how wonderful that they did this for you. Your Dad would probably get a kick out of being included on the "wall".

Spoke to the anniversary couple's "lead pickle" and they are having a great time. They took the boat from DTD to POR and POFQ. She liked POR, but not POFQ. Loved the food court at POR. Tomorrow is Hollywood Studios day and I gave her a bunch of ideas of what to do (since she doesn't do coasters) so they can use up their five hours until the pot roast at 50's Prime Time. As she said, "it's all about the food." She sounded really happy.

I'm so glad they are visiting other resorts ~ for us, it is one of the enjoyable non-park things to do and can give a good sense if the resort might be a possibility for a future stay. We find it makes our stay more relaxing, rather than just doing the parks.

It also reminds me how nice it is that Disney has so many different options - I'm not a huge fan of POR, but loved FQ. While I think POR is beautiful (and do not like the jokers and masks at FQ at all), I prefer the quaint squares and fountains at FQ. One of the prettiest walks, I think, in WDW is the walk between POR and FQ. The first time I did it was when I arrived a day ahead of my friend, we were at POP, but I;d gone over to FQ for a breakfast Beignet and decided to stroll over to POR..it was my first visit there and wow..what a lovely walk..right along the river, Mansions on the opposite side, trees were blooming, even in December - it was soooo pretty.

The one and only time I ever got lost at WDW was on the Mansions side of POR - I was with a friend ~ we both have a natural sense of direction and never get lost even in a strange city ~ yet we could not find our room and after we did, could not figure out how to get back to the car or food court. That Mansion bldg was like a maze - we called and requested a room change - they must have thought we were in pretty sad shape b/c we were moved to bldg 14, 1st floor, directly next door to the food court.

Anyway, thanks for the update, Kathy! Good for you for calling - I thought of it too, but was waiting a few days. Great minds think alike.

Hope everyone has a delightful Tuesday - I will be vacuuming the upstairs, then cleaning my bathroom. Another fun-filled day! Ahh, but then I am DONE!! No more laundry, no more cleaning...well, maybe one load of laundry (a girl needs her undies ).
