So we bought our annual pass via the DVC guest services. We are supposed to show up with our membership cards and ID @ Hollywood Studios (my choice).

Has anyone gone through thsi process and if so, can you provide a personal account of what I should expect?

I am mildly concerned b\c we are rope drop folks and not sure how time consuming of a process this is going to be.

I also found it odd that I did not get an email confirmation. They gave me one over the phone and when I called back they indicated that everything was all set and reiterated that I was supposed to bring my information to HS and then we'd get our stuff there.

So long as you have your will call number, DVC Id, and photo Id, you should be all set to go. It takes about 10 minutes at the window.

Give yourself plenty of time. In my experience, it depends on who is on the other side of the window. One time, at Epcot, it took them nearly 30 minutes to "find" my pass, even though I had a confirmation number, ID, DVC membership card, and the credit card that I had already paid for it with! THEN -- this was the worst -- they tried to charge me the difference in price because I had purchased the pass before the ticket prices increased! Fortunately, it "worked out" and I didn't have to. That was frustrating.

However, the next year I went, we picked up at Hollywood Studios before rope drop, and the process took maybe 10 minutes and there were no issues whatsoever!

Moral of the story -- if you're rope drop kind of people, give yourself a while... just in case :)

I'll consider myself warned!
:thumbsup2

Bring your confirmation number. I'm not sure if it is exactly the same, but guest services could not find our MVMCP tickets until we found our confirmation email on our smart phone. (The problem was a typo in the name so a name-based search did not find it)

When we initially got our APs, We just took the confirmation number to the window outside Epcot. The whole thing probably took less than ten minutes. In January, we renewed our APs at the International Gateway, and that probably took five minutes...just showed ID and membership card (and paid for the renewal..had already paid for the initial AP purchase.)

Just a warning - bring the credit card you used to pay for them too. Wee picked up our new APs at the international gateway at the end of January. It was right after we checked in and were getting ready to meet DH's family for dinner at Chef Mickeys. We had about 15 minutes to kill before we had to leave so we stopped by to pick up the passes so we didn't waste time in the morning.

I had my membership card, my printout and my id - I didn't know we needed the credit card which was back in the safe in our room. DH had to run back to the Beach Club to get it.

Will I be able to pick up my AP's before rope drop at Iternational Gateway?..What time does guest services open at IG?....:thumbsup2

Are DVC APs available (with proper ID, of course) at park and DTD Guest Services windows, and can MYW passes be upgraded to the DVC AP within 14 days of first use?

If you do not want to worry about waiting during rope drop, buy discounted MYW hoppers from UT.
The tickets you receive are valid for immediate entry and you save a few bucks if you upgrade vs buying AP's outright.

Then, at your leisure go to guest services as you are leaving in the afternoon to upgrade your hoppers to AP's. The drawback to the upgrade is if you need to use an AP benefit right away (like a shopping discount or TiW).

That's exactly what I was hoping to do with the UT discount on top of the DVC AP discount. I wouldn't be RDing the first afternoon anyway, so I can use the UT ticket for admission, then head to Guest Services in the park to do the upgrade and buy my TiW card.

Thanks for the info!

Technically, the DVC AP is its own base ticket that happens to cost less (somewhat like FL resident) which is nice as Disney does not like "stacking" multiple discounts ;)

To a previous q, you can now buy DVC AP's at Hotel concierge, but they only print tickets on the thicker plastic cards instead of the "sleek" tyvek passes. And I don't think they can "bridge" and upgrade the UT ticket into a DVC AP.

Right. I think all upgrading needs to be done at Guest Relations windows.

Thanks again for the help!

Just a quick update...this event went very smoothly. I had my confirmation #, DVC card and our ID's. It probably took 10 minutes or less.
