Pick Two TS

Planning our third trip (June 2012.) Have done free dining last two trips and felt we wasted a lot of food. So far no free dining for our dates so plan to pay OOP. Figure we can save a lot by splitting meals & not doing TS every day. Would still like to do one, maybe two just for a splurge. So, the question is...which one or two are your must do's if paying OOP? It's myself, DH, DS 13 & DD 8. Prefer to eat in the parks (no car, we use Disney transportation) but it's not a requirement. However, once we leave a park, we don't tend to go back later. I know lunch would be cheaper & that's ok. Open to any suggestions. TIA!

Via Napoli would be a great place to eat somewhat cheaply. You can share one of the large 1/2 meter pizzas, an app or two, perhaps the salad, and then a dessert or two. Depending on the combination of the above, you can eat for less than $100.

Hi I don't think a buffett would be a good idea because there are usually "no sharing" rules, hence they charge by the person. Lat time my DH and I went we paid OOP for Liberty Tree Tavern Dinner (family style) and the San Angel Inn. We didn't spend more than $45.00 each meal and we were really stuffed.

We do OOP so I'd say skip the buffets. My picks would be Rose and Crown-I like the lunch menu very much and 50s Prime Time where the meals are definitely big enough to split.

My favorite in park TS meals, non-signature:

MK:
Crystal Palace Breakfast - Would be a more expensive choice since it's a buffet and you can't share

DHS:
50's PT Cafe - HUGE portions, easy to share, can easily share the giant milkshakes too

AK:
Yak N Yeti - Large portions here. I usually split an appetizer and entree with another person and it's plenty.

Epcot:
Via Napoli - Really excellent pizza, so you can order a large one if everyone in the party wants some and that will be cheaper than individual entrees at another restaurant.

If I could only pick two of those....hmm that's hard. Might change depending on which ones I ate at most recently! But today it would be Via Napoli and Crystal Palace.

For the amount of cash and portion size (definitely sharable), Rose & Crown is a great choice. However, if all of you plan to get the fish & chips, Yorkshire County counter service is right next door, so you're not getting something at R & C that you can't get elsewhere. There are many other items on the menu that you can't find elsewhere, though, so I still say R&C is a good option.

Epcot: Can't go wrong here. Le Cellier, or My fav. Tutto Italia.

Hollywood Studios: I agree 50's P/T Best bang for the buck w/ awesome meals. Also As I just learned on my most recent tripin Nov. , now they have a sampler dinner, which has fried chicken, pot roast , and meat loaf....Deeelish!!

Magic Kingdom : Eh...But if u are in the area I highly recommend O'hana. Mucho Mucho FOOD!! and Tasty too.

Animal Kingdom: Probably would suggest Rain Forest OOP. We did it last year thinking it was on the reg. meal plan, only to find out after we sat down that it wasn't. But I really didn't mind because the meal was rather good.

Downtown Diz: I highly recommend Bongo's . Awesome authentic cuban food & atmosphere too. Good Luck &happy Hunting..

Hi,

We're doing the same on our trip, skipping DDP and paying OOP for a few sit-downs. We also prefer eating in the parks to cut down on transportation time.

This is what I have scheduled:

DHS: Sci-Fi lunch

AK: Tusker House character breakfast (but that's a buffet...)

Epcot: Via Napoli dinner (not entirely sure we'll keep this one, might end up just grazing through all the great World Showcase CS... but for now I'm keeping it)

MK: Cinderella's Royal Table breakfast (ridiculously expensive for a breakfast but my dd enjoyed eating in the castle so much on her first trip, I'm sucking it up and we're going again)


Other possibilities for you:

Yak & Yeti for lunch at AK. Have been there twice and really enjoyed both times.

The Plaza for lunch at MK. Inexpensive by Disney standards and gets good reviews.

At Epcot, either Biergarten or the Rose & Crown. At MK, definitely Liberty Tree and at Hollywood definitely Brown Derby. Make a decision based on what type of food you like better and your schedule!

We really enjoyed lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern on our trip in Oct. The portions were huge and we could have easily shared entrees. It is definitely on our list of TS to plan for our next trip.

A second choice would have to be Le Cellier. Again, we really enjoyed our entrees and the portions were large enough that we could have shared.

We had the free DDP on our first trip, and we added it for our last trip. We have talked about skipping the DDP (unless there is a special for our next trip), but we do enjoy having a TS most days to get out of the heat and take a break.
