It will be myself (26), DH (27), and DS (2). We are not really adventrous eaters. DS is just now really starting to get into the Playhouse Disney Characters. He did really well meeting the characters by the end of our trip this past September.

Please help me decide on where to eat in May. We are only doing 4 table service meals this trip.

Thanks for any help or advice!

I picked the following:
Crystal Palace for breakfast (love the puffed french toast and Pooh and friends)
LeCellier -- our favorite Disney restaurant
Sci-Fi -- basic burgers, etc., but we prefer it over some of your other suggestions
Cape May Cafe for breakfast with Minnie, Goofy and Donald in bathing attire

We find Chef Mickey's to be last on our list for character meals--too crowded and too noisy and we think the food is better at the other buffets

I don't like Mexican food so we've never done San Angel; Boma was on the schedule last year but we ended up cancelling it because we were too tired (I've since read mixed reviews for dinner and probably won't do it as I don't care for spiced foods; but we will try it for breakfast in September).

If your son is just getting into Playhouse Disney, try Hollywood and Vine for breakfast. When we went a few years ago, DD was 2 1/2. It was only a few months after this breakfast started. We had the last possible seating for breakfast - 10:20, I believe, and there was only two other tables occupied. We had A LOT of character time, and they get up and dance, too! (Yes, it is so worth getting them out of the high chair to watch them!) The food was standard breakfast buffet fare, but the time with JoJo and 2 of the Little Einsteins was priceless. At this age, I would rather do this breakfast instead of Chef Mickey's, since the time that they are interested in these characters is a lot shorter.

I really enjoyed the Flying Fish and Artist Point restaurants for a more grown-up feel, and Whispering Canyon for a fun meal. We also really enjoy Biergarten, but that's another buffet.

My "other" vote would be for the Tusker House breakfast with Donald if you're going to Animal Kingdom. We really enjoyed the food there, the fun atmosphere and character interaction (it was Donald, Daisy, Mickey, and Goofy).

I voted for dinner at Chef Mickeys.. characters are great there and for added value I think you are better having a dinner at a buffet.

Crystal Palaca breakfast... characters are great there too

Boma dinner... I know you said you weren't adventrous eaters but there is a huge selection of food there and even my picky DH loved it.

Le cellier... a great steak dinner from my native country :)

Let's see if I can remember what I actually voted for. I picked Cape May Cafe and Crystal Palace for breakfast, because they have great buffets and characters for your son to enjoy. The food has always been fresh and tasty when we have eaten at those two places. Lots of fun. Then I picked Boma dinner for a more adult choice that will still be convenient with a little one. Good food, nice place. Then for the 4th, I picked other - you mentioned the playhouse disney characters, so I think you should consider Hollywood and Vine with their character meal.

I picked Crystal Palce, and Cape May, both for breakfast. I would also recommend Kona Cafe at the Polynesian, Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge, Nine Dragons and Chefs de France, both of which are in Epcot.

:)

I picked CP with Pooh, Cape May with Minnie and BOMA. Although we love Sci Fi, as a party of 3, one of you would be seated by yourself as the bench seats would be too small for all 3 of you to sit together (and I don't know that a 2 yr old would really "get" it).

We went in July with our 2 boys, ages 3 and 1. Here are the ones I voted for and why:

1. Chef Mickey's breakfast: our sons loved the character interaction and the food was great! Plus you gotta see Mickey!

2. Crystal Palace breakfast: we had dinner there and again, great character interaction. (I highly recommend the dinner too). Great food and a beautiful atmosphere, right on Main Street!

3. Boma dinner: they have the same children's choices as the other buffets, while offering something on the more exotic side for you and your DH. However do not worry about not being adventurous eaters. They have some delicious basic foods too. And the desserts are great and most have alcohol! My kids enjoyed the cookies though which of course have NO alcohol!

4. "Other" would be Biergarten dinner in Germany at Epcot. The buffet has a great variety and it is delicious food, great atmosphere and wonderful service. As a bonus they have an Oktoberfest show at dinnertime which my boys loved! They have a band and some other performers doing special things. Not to be missed!!! You will be seated with other parties though, at tables of 8. We sat with a very nice gentleman and his daughter (other 2 seats were left empty) and we had a very pleasant time! Pretzel bread is awesome!!!

Let me add that all children under age 3 are FREE at all the Disney buffets and all-you-can-eat meals!!

My other is Ohanas breakfast. We thought it was delicious and the boys (3 and almost 2) loved the characters, parade, and atmosphere.
I also picked Chef Mickey's breakfast. I have not been for dinner. I picked CP because a 2 year old would love the pooh characters and then Le Cellier for the adults. It was awesome!

I vote Hollywood and Vine because they have standard American food and characters at breakfast or lunch. It gets a bad reputation on this board, but my family LOVES it and we go there often.

Whatever you choose, have a wonderful time!

I voted Le Cellier & SciFi. My "others" for a safe meal would be Rose & Crown and 50s Prime Time. San Angel is OK, but if you've had really good Mexican, you may be disappointed.

BTW, I go the non-adventurous route myself!

I picked Cape May Cafe character breakfast. It was the best food we had & it was relaxed & we got to spend unhurried time with the characters.

Crystal Palace Breakfast has been our best character meal and if you do it early you are in the park before it opens so you can take some great pictures on your way to the restaurant.
