My oldest is about to turn 15 and we're trying to find a nice "surprise" for her. She's into music mostly and so I was thinking that the club Rock N Roll Beach Club at PI sounded like something she might like. But I'm also wondering if it's appropriate for a 15 yr old. Along the same lines......... we also have a 7 yr old, which I would not be able to leave at home while going any where near WDW, that I'd take. So I guess I should ask is this club apropriate for a 15 yr old and a 7 yr old?

I know everyone has a difference of opinions on these type subjects. So if I can get an idea of the atmosphere of the club then I can make up my own mind.

If Rock n Roll BC is out then maybe the adventurers club would be a better choice?

thanks

I have been to the Beach Club as a college student on Spring Break. It was busy and fun on St. Patrick's Day way back them. The 15 year old would probably have a good time, under supervision, in that club. The 7yo, I have no idea. We went to the Adventurer's Club for NYE a coiuple years back. I think some of the humor is more suited for adults. Not that it is vulgar, just more mature.

I love the Beach Club! I'm not so sure how it would be for a 15-year-old though. I've only been there as a college program student, and to me, it always seems like a bunch of college kids, drunk off their a**, trying to get with each other. However, I only go on Mondays and Thursdays, when CM's get in for free. I'm thinking that maybe Sundays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays might not be as bad. So, it does sound like a good idea, but do NOT take a fifteen yr old there on a monday or thursday...I don't trust those college guys. You might want to try 8Trax too...that's one of my faves.
If you decide it's not appropriate, you might want to check and see if any concerts are going on at House of Blues, those are ALWAYS fun, and there's always tons of high school kiddies at those. And if you haven't seen Cirque Du Soleil yet...I HIGHLY reccomend that...that would be a GREAT birthday surprise, and perfect for the whole family :D

I agree completely with HTHbellhop. Monday and Thursday and definitely nights you do not want to take your children to PI. Also Friday and Saturday are not the greatest either. I would say Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday might be better. It is also fun to just hang out in the "streets" of PI. There is always a band on the West End stage and performers every so often on the hub stage (music videos play here in between). Its kind of fun just to dance and enjoy the music outside. A trip to the comedy show would be something everyone could enjoy. Near 8 trax, there is a place where you can make your own music viedo/recording too. The thing to keep in mind is that all of the clubs ARE bars. You cannot really predict how intoxicated other patrons will be. You have to find your comfort level with this.

Another thought: Your 15 year old may not be comfortable going someplace like this with her parents. I know I wasn't at this age.

Can someone confirm? I think I read somewhere that PI shops and restaurants are no longer open during the day and you can't even walk through to get from West Side to DTD (have to walk around past Planet Hollywood). Do you know why? Cutbacks?

I believe I read that as well. Not sure of the source. I doubt it was a financial "cutback" of any kind.

Was just wondering why you can't even just walk through during the day?

Thanks everyone for the input. I guess I'll really have to consider my options here. I'm still wondering if it's appropriate especially since we would most likely do it on a weekend rather than a Tuesday as suggested. We had planned to let her take a friend, since I'm well aware that mom and dad are not at all cool. I'd still like to have an idea of the places she is going to be at though.

Maybe I should consider the West End Stage and the House of Blues that was recommended. Anyone know where I can get information on these places?

Thanks all you've been very helpful.

HOB.com should give you an idea but I'm not sure for West Side stage.
