Photoshop ?'s

I just started playing around with photoshop last night and have a few questions for you knowledgeable Disers. I have been looking through tutorials, but so far haven't come across the answer to these questions:

1. On these boards I have seen the design that looks like a picture in a "crystal ball/snowglobe" thing. Is this effect something I can do on Photoshop or is it only on photoimpact or other programs?

2. Is there a way to make my text metallic looking, e.g. gold or silver?

3. Are there any premade border type images? I have seen some designs on the board that have, for example, a border that looks like pencil shavings. Are there borders that I can apply to my images or do I need to create them from scratch?

Any answers would be appreciated, even just letting me know there is a tutorial to answer these ?'s. Thanks!

Here is a site that you can find some great tutorials at. They have both vidoe and just in writing directions.

Look for the one that says Photos Within Type I. This will teach you how to make the words with the disney faces inside.

Go to the help and type in text effects and that will bring you to the steps to make your text look some of the ways you want.

I do not know how to teach you photoshop over the internet. I am not the greatest at it. I teach High School and I am proud to say I was taught the majority of what I know by two 15 year olds. I find kids know this stuff the best.

My suggestion is to type in what you want to do in help and see what tutorials it comes up with. I also recommend using the site I gave above. I have found some very easy to follow directions on it.

Go to your local bookstore and flip through the numerous books on Photoshop tricks and techniques. There are so many, you are sure to find one which offers the content you need in a style you are comfortable with. Just page through them and you will get ideas; buy the one book which offers the most of what you are looking for.
