Paint.. I can't use that to save my soul. I really can't.

You can get a trial online...
or you could borrow a Photoshop (I prefer Adobe) from someone you know who has it and install it.
Or you could go out at buy it. CS is expensive, but Photoshop Elements is a good price and pretty much does the same thing.
